    befor complaining, learn to drive all over again. big motor makes tq, with lots of tq, no need to spin the motor. short shift, get her into high gear as soon as possible without lugging. cruise at 50 to 55 mpg. documemt mpg over a period of several tank fulls. report back.

    you do need ujoints. see the rust expelled from the bearing cup! did your truck sit underwater for awhile? looks like barnacles. lol check brake caliper.

    2bbl bill had an understanding of flow. a 2bbl maximized per engine build is always better than a 4bbl for simplicity sake alone. its only when you build for more hp at higher rpm that the 4bbl starts to outshine. at what point do you lose velocities at low rpm and at what point do you suffer...

    scariest part i would check first is ball joints. then its on to loose shock, ujoint, spring bush, loose rivets, etc. but ball joints first for safety. were your hubs locked?

    if you soaked the lifters in oil first, be sure and tighten the nuts slowly to allow bleed off. and never just fire the engine up after adjusting the valves, let it sit for 10 or 12 beers.
