    How quick is your Square?

I can't go above 50 mph without the truck shaking apart. If I stomp on it there is an unsettling clunk from the drive-line, so I just putter. Live slow, die whenever. Sloth Life.

    Decent Paint Job

I had an old sun faded Toyota Corolla I used to drive to school. I was going to roll on aluminized farm paint with a flat black hood, but the transmission died before I could. If my truck was in terrible shape and not my father-in-law's old one, I'd probably do that to it.

The leaf spring bushings need replacing

Did you go off roading a lot, Raider? I guess 25 years is a long time on any bushing. https://www.generalspringkc.com/leaf-springs/chevrolet-gmc/chevy-gmc-truck/3-4-ton-20-2500/1973-1987/

    Radiator Question.

At least try to get the old one fixed. My period-correct brass unit had to be rebuilt at a local shop; the kind ran by a very old man where the floor has never been cleaned. They ended up putting a new core in it from some place out of Texas after too many runs had to be plugged to stop the...

    rear wheel lock up

I had an issue with the right side rear brakes dragging when doing down the road (temp gun sensed a 100+ degree differential between sides), but it would spin free when up on jack stands. Little noise when spun free. This was after I replaced both rear shoes, wheel cylinders, and springs, etc...

    rear wheel lock up

Take off both drums to compare the two assemblies. With the wheels up, does the axle turn smooth or is it rough and crunchy? Does the wheel lock up instantly as you start to move? When it does lock up, does going in reverse release it?

Summit Carb Install Gone Very Wrong

My truck is basically stock, with Quadrajet, exhaust heat riser, and thermostatic blend door on the snorkel air box. Started up almost instantly when it was negative 25 F outside, same temp in the barn. Ran just fine.

Looking into a new compact car.

Late to the party... Skimmed most of the thread. I have owned a 2014 Spark since new, manual transmission. No issues beyond needing a clutch, tires and fluid. Almost 60k miles now, 35-40 mpg. Destroyed the clutch by 30k by not coming to a complete stop whenever reversing from parking spots...

Let's see where you park your square

I park in a 100+ year old barn with lots of junk. Has metal siding and roof installed 40-50 years ago but still good-ish. No heat or A/C, or lights (all burned out and up high, lol)

Where do you put your antifreeze when doing a flush?

Some auto parts stores or local mechanics will take waste coolant for a price, or free if you know them well. I sometimes pour it into a large tub of floor dry to soak it all up, then throw it out like normal trash. It is generally frowned upon to dump any automotive fluids in open ground. I...

Chop the top? Or don’t, that is the question...

This. I'm 6'4" and my head is almost hitting in nearly any vehicle I've ever been in. But I can actually wear a hat in the truck, so amazing. Wife can't get cars with sunroofs cause they take up valuable inches up there. As far as looks of chopped things, I think anything made past 1955...

First truck, first restoration. Should be fun. 1979 Scottsdale k10

If you're from East of the Mississippi River, you are from the East. I live within 100 miles of the geographic center of the USA. This is the midwest. Maybe from the Mississippi to the Rockies is the midwest in my book. Nice looking build.

    Wood heater/stove. What y'all think?

It looks heavy, but bullet-proof. There is an old soapstone stove in my barn, not hooked up, was a salvage from in-laws burned down house. At any rate, it literally weighs 500 pounds.

Thoughts on running 10 year old tires?

I have one tire from the early 90s and three from the early 2000s. 3 styles. One from the 90s was found in the barn and put into use after I burst a front tire on ruts. A local shop installed it with no questions asked, they didn't even read the sidewall. The truck is 95% used on gravel out...

New Tires are Ugly. Bring the Classics Back!

I have two of these on the back, wish it was all 4. My father-in-law got them 15-20 years ago and only needed two tires at the time. Power King, High Traction Radials. I don't think they are made anymore. They have a vintage look. I'll be trying to keep it vintage when I get all 4 new...
