    Ignition problem

It sounds like some clown hot wired it. Just be patient and keep studying the internet and you will get it rewired properly again. Just be patient. The answer wont just present itself in front of you. Slowly but surely you will fix this.

    Damn mice.

Obviously we cant avoid mice. I wish we could. But we definitely can avoid these old dinosaurs. Crocodiles and all that nasty shit. I was watching a show the other day that had something to do with efficient housing. And I shit you not, this couple was building a house on the side of a...

    Damn mice.

How about those giant fucking snakes. I have had some serious nightmares over that shit. I knew better than to read the story, but I read it anyway. These people being eaten by snakes. Granted, they are smaller humans but still. What a way to go. I realize they crush and kill you first but...

    Damn mice.

Years ago, I had a cat that brought a live mouse into my house. Of course the dumb bastard was trying to play with it and eventually the mouse got loose. I will never understand how a mouse can find it's way into the wall and up into the attic. But this one did. It found a place in the...

    Grindage!?

If you have a helper, watch underneath while the clutch is pushed in to make sure everything is tight there. If that all checks out, you have to pull the transmission and fix the issues. No other way.

    Grindage!?

Has to be a clutch issue. Odds are your transmission is fine. Clutch just isnt working properly.

    Grindage!?

Are you saying it will grind even if you try putting it in second or third gear? Or just low? I just reread the thread. I missed the part where you cant get into any gear. Sorry

    Original engine

I want to rant a bit about vehicles with clearly undersized engines that came that way from the factory. I have driven many vehicles that have a gross vehicle rating of just under 26,000 pounds. And almost everyone has/had an undersized engine. To the point of being a hazard on the road...

    Original engine

Like I say. Money is strange with these things. I could easily get $2,000 for that bare 428 block in the pic. What can you get for a 350 block? $100? And obviously we all know 350's are great. It's just a strange deal.

    Original engine

Here's my 1966 428 fe. I know I have talked about the car before while drunk. But I have 3 grand into what's laying there. I have brand new pistons and brand new crankshaft for it that are not in the picture. The pistons were $900. Lol. Fords are so strange. All fe ford engines were...

    55 top speed

I have a long ways to go before that thing is ready for the road. I am not really concerned about 60mph driving. I do realize it will be turning some decent rpms at that speed. This is a good thread that got me thinking about it. But I dont think it will be any issue. Plus I didn't buy my...

    55 top speed

I have only taking my 87 v20 around the block. TBI 350 and th400 trans. I need to look to confirm but most likely 4.10. Cant believe I haven't confirmed that. Anyway, I couldn't believe how smooth it shifted. But now I am curious about 55 to 60mph cruising also. In high gear before 30mph...

And I imagine the people that have done the conversation smoother dont want to sell. Because they have such a great setup. Hard to sell something like that.

    Original engine

We have to be humble. I read people always talking about the 5.3 swap. But nine out of ten times it's a failure. Because of lack of funds and ignorance. I am always on the lookout for a squarebody that has been converted to a 4.8 or 5.3 with 4l60e transmission where all the gauges work and...

    Original engine

Thanks for the information. That makes complete sense and I will eventually follow up on it with my air conditioning system. It's just another thing I have never done before.

    Original engine

And if I can teach anyone that reads this thread from the mistakes I have made is to not tear something apart unless you are 100 percent committed to what you are doing. Make sure you have the funds for it and make damn sure that it makes sense. If it doesnt, leave it alone.

    Original engine

My original plans for this 87 was a 5.3 swap. But it makes absolutely no sense in my mind to pull out a great running original engine to do the swap. So I am going to stay stock for now. I did put in a brand new distributor. I should replace the plugs and wires also this summer. I like the...

    Original engine

I am curious how many of you guys are driving a square that still has the original engine in it that has never been pulled out. Now I cant 100 percent guarantee it but according to the guy I bought it from, my little 305 has never been pulled out. And by looking at everything, I have no reason...

    55 top speed

I know this doesnt help much but the 72 c 10 I used to have, i could cruise 60mph very comfortably. I decided to stand on it once for the hell of it to see if I could bury the speedometer. It would. Fairly easily So it would do an honest 100mph. This pickup had a stock 1972 350 with stock th...

    Need Quick Rust Advice

What I gather from your post is that it's a money issue. which is a problem for 95 percent of us. I have learned the hard way myself but the best advice I can give is to be really patient before you buy. If there is something you dont like about this deal, just look elsewhere. Just keep...

New issue with my 83 k10

As 75gmck said, definitely replace your inline filter. Assuming it has one. They can be a bit of a nuisance. Hopefully that's all it is. It's a tiny filter with a spring and rubber o ring.

    engine swap project

I have only done three engine swaps in my life. As far as not being concerned about upgrades, it's always best in my opinion to find the correct complete engine from a reputable junkyard or seller and just drop it in. A guy could find a decent tbi 350 for pretty reasonable I would think...
