    Unusual radio issue

Interesting reading. I have the same problem with my Retro sound radio. Not every time but say once a week the radio display don't shut down, but there is no sound and you cant turn the radio off by pressing the left hand button. The only way is to pull the fuse. And if you don't, and the truck...

    Hot wire junction block

I do agree with Rusty pile, rewire after the original scheme, right color coding, just follow the original scheme - wire by wire. I did that on my truck 10 years ago, and no problem at all since. Question: Where to buy fusible links?

    LED headlight upgrade

I bought 4 pcs from RMS lighting, two on top for both hi- and low beam and two below these for just hi-beam. Works well and looks great on mine 1983 Silverado c20 Andreas Wickman, Gotland Sweden

The illumination of mine gauges are very poor (C20 1983). Does anyone know if it is stronger bulbs for gauge cluster available? Any LED option? Best regards from a cold Sweden.

Aha, so there are LEDs for dash lights! The original ones are so week so I have longed for stronger ones for years. Where to buy these LED ones?

    Best brand for LED conversion?

Wow great. The RMS Lighting ones have just what I was looking for, the original look when off. How is it, they come in two versions, one that has option dimmed/ not dimmed for the upper ones and one with just "full light" for the lower ones? Runs with a well working fully rebuilt 6.2 diesel and...

    Overdrive not working

Interesting. That little o-ring was as you say very flat. So the "sad" thing can be, it was that ring, not the converter. But Im still happy.

    Overdrive not working

I just checked the plunge right above the solenoid and it moves easily a short 1/4 of an inch. I cross my fingers and hope the new converter will fix the problem next week. happy weekend and thanks for all your help. Andreas

    Overdrive not working

The valve above the solenoid, can one move it with a a pin when the solenoid is removed, to check the valve isn't stuck?

    Overdrive not working

So now I have drained the tranny and done a complete check of the electric components: Connector into the tranny: CHECK, Pressure switch 4-3 down shift CHECK, Soleniod with valve CHECK, And it does "click" when throttle is more than 10%. So the sad conclusion is one of the options meant above...

    Wiper Pulse Module #15598496

I fixed mine (or a friend thst can electronics did) a couple of years ago on mine C20 diesel 1983. I will say that the feature that electroncs add to the truck means a gretet improvment than one should expect. Five nice functions, for example I do like the one side push left and you wipe once.

    Overdrive not working

Yes I talked to a friend driving a 1989 Silverado with diesel, and he say it locks up on every gear. I have tried to hear a click from the solenoid, but cant hear anything. I have ordered a new solenoid, filter and gasket. As soon it shows up I drain the trans and take a closer look. Thanks for...

    Overdrive not working

Now I learned some basics. My problem is the lock up/TCC. (Because overdrive=4th gear not any 5th gear). So my remaining question is: What prevents the solenoid to be engaged on every gear? As I read the attached wire diagram (previous post) it looks to me the solenoid has power supply all...

    Overdrive not working

OD o lock up? First, please tell one that dont eaal y can sort this out. Look att the attached diagram. OD or lock-up? Then; vacuum is for sure not included. The attached wire diagram is how my trans is wired. I have installed a control lamp that lights up once the green wire down to the trans...

    Headlights go on and off

My Silverado 83 had exactly this. It was the thermal fuse in the headlight switch. A rely in the hi beam circuit fixed the problem.

    Overdrive not working

Really a great forum this. So many helpful guys out there-. Attached is a wire diagram that shows how the OD in my trans is powered. I'm wondering if someone can explain what happens inside the trans with the components shown in the diagram. A Normally closed switch and a relay by-passed one way...

    Overdrive not working

No vacuum is involved because its a diesel. Thing is that I have added a switch witch prevents the OD to step in until I want and I just want it once on the fourth gear. Without that switch, it jumps in on every gear. The switch is just in line with the single green wire going down to the trans...

    Overdrive not working

I have a 1983 C20 with 6.2 diesel and TH700, wher the OD dont work anymore. The OD is just powered by a single green wire. Any idea what has happened? It have worked fine for many years but suddenly wont step in. Where to start fault-finding?

    Back to intermittent wipers..

I have a C20 1983 and did spend a lot of time to get the intermittent wiper system to work as original again. Work included restoration of the "delay" box by exchanging electronic components such as capacitors and others. In the end, everything works perfect and the only thing I will say with...
