Looking for no bs, tested, quality vacuum caps..

BMW part# 11 61 1 437 560 They’re pricey, and they do fail eventually, but probably not for 10 years or so. If you only have a few ports to cap off it might be worth getting just enough to cover what you need https://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/oem-parts/bmw-cap-889520-11611437560

    Can it be saved

Yeah 20 years ago. Waaaaayy back in... 2001?! The fact that 2001 was a “long” time ago definitely makes me feel old... Truck looks good! The styling has held up well along with the paint

    Yet another bleeding brake post

For some reason the link isn’t taking me to the post you’re referring to, but I think I know the technique you’re talking about. If none of that works for you, I can tell you what I ended up having to do. I took the warning light switch out, went in with a pick and moved the valve back to...

    In case you wondered...

Years ago I was doing a head gasket on my personal car over the weekend. As usual, I brought a collection of “good” tools home from the shop for that kind of job. All was going well until I was getting close to torquing down the head and realized I’d forgotten my Snap-On torque wrench. Really...

    Is this rare

Nice! I’m also NH by way of CT. Remember “Cap City”? We had one in Danbury, I’m pretty sure I remember them having a few locations around the state. They were the ones selling them and they called them caps, so there’s that...

Internal engine rust treated with Kano ?

Kroil is the shiznat. Only ever used it as penetrating oil, but it’s the best I’ve tried in that respect. Tough to find around here so I usually default to PB Blaster, which is a distant second. One of these days I need to pick up another 1/2 gal of kroil though

    I made it home anyway.

Haha nice! Yup, blowing out rotten brake lines is a rite of passage here in New England. Still impressive distance, especially since you were passing through earlier in the day

    I made it home anyway.

I’d had my beater Civic for like four years. In my ownership up to that point, I hadn’t been able to pull the rear drums due to the lip that the shoes had worn in, and no way to back them off that I could see. So out of sight out of mind, and rear brake condition was unknown with over 260k on...

    Looking to buy... But it's a 72

Up here in rust country, I’d expect that to be listed no less than mid to high teens, maybe low $20s if the seller was really ambitious. $10k or less in this neck of the woods would be a steal. Looks like kind of a fluff and buff, but that could be ok if the price is right. Depends how much...

    1987 Bronco 2 project?

I hated those things back in the day. But like a lot of that stuff that’s gone so scarce, it’s cool to see one on the road now

1981 Buick Regal Indy 500 pace car

Haha I’m fussy about that too. My truck is ratty as hell those are one of the first things I bought for it

Post a pic of your first car or restoration!

Sounds like pretty close specs to my dad’s ‘61 (given what was available for the respective years). His first new car. Honduras maroon/white, tri-power 348, 4 speed, no center console, factory Sun tach, no power options either (he ordered all his cars that way for years, street racer style). Not...

    Autozone 40th Anniversary SquareBody trucks

Just got mine this morning. Wasn’t even out hunting for it but running other errands and the light bulb went off when I was passing autozone. Very cool, they’re heavier than I thought they’d be. None on the rack, but the very helpful lady looked it up and it was showing one in stock, hmmm...

    10 bolt... stupid question

lol, no what’s stupid is ordering one based on the description of “8.5” ring gear” and just assuming that’s what you have without looking into it further. That’s what I did. Well I have a 12 bolt, 8.875 ring gear or whatever the hell it is so I got a useless to me 10 bolt pinion seal and didn’t...

    Advice on rebuilding control arms

Ah, thanks. Yeah I did seem to remember it had something to do with the ball joint but wasn’t sure what exactly. Yeah that sucks, almost fell into the same trap myself. I ran into 1t arms falsely listed as 1/2t in multiple places. Good to know what’s involved in making them work if I go that...

    Advice on rebuilding control arms

Yeah, what’s the deal with that? I read somewhere that you can run c20 lower arms on a c10 but there’s some modification that needs to be done. Anyone know?

What have you done to your square lately??

Lol, wish I had seen your post earlier! It’s not too late man, could probably pick the epoxy off like a scab and ball some of this stuff on there real quick. I was surprised how well it worked, actually moved fuel tank replacement well down the priorities list. Might even just run it as is for...

What have you done to your square lately??

There’s an app for that: Should be available at most any auto parts store. Knead it up like dough and stick it on there. It’s made to work on wet fuel leaks too. I used it on mine months ago just to keep it from pissing until I replace this tank and it’s still holding fine.

What have you done to your square lately??

Nah, I think the way it works is that the actual pits themselves are very small. The rust you see is mostly the staining around them. The aluminum is softer than the chrome so it doesn’t scratch it, and the oil just acts as a lubricant and maybe a solvent to dissolve the stains. So the pits are...

What have you done to your square lately??

Yup just ball it up, dip it in the oil and go over the rusty areas. Doesn’t even take a lot of effort. My friend swears by olive oil, but I think it’s just cause he’s fancy like that. I used canola oil because that’s what we had in the house but I know I’ve used other kinds in the past and had...

What have you done to your square lately??

Buddy of mine who restores BMX bikes taught me this trick for cleaning up rust pitted chrome a while back. Crumpled up aluminum foil and cooking oil. I felt like doing a quick five minute fix so... To be fair, I was planning on doing real work today, turning this pile of crap into an...
