A few days ago after a major rainstorm I hit an invisible pothole covered with water. It was a pretty jarring whack. My wife noticed the glass in the passenger side mirror was dangling by a thread. She rolled the window down and snatched it before gravity got it.
Looking at it, it looks like...
Unlike my ex, I am desiring mud flaps for my truck. Does anybody have or know of some manly mud flaps that aren't too "bud light" looking? I don't recall what period correct flaps would look like for the squares but I don't want anything goofy looking. I'm not 100 years old pulling a 5th wheel...
That's my theory anyway. Maybe someone can give me a sanity check. So on the way to work this morning I am going around a bend in the road at about 45 mph when all of a sudden I had no brakes or steering. Thank the good Lord there was no oncoming traffic in the opposite lane cause I shot into it...
So I got the new Vision wheels and BFG tires on last night. For reference, I have a 2" Rancho lift, the factory tires were 265/65/16 on 16 x 7 wheels. The OD diameter measured 31 inches.
The new BFG's are 285/70/17 and measure exactly 33 inches OD. The wheels are Vision Ojos in 17 x 9 with 4.5...
Since resto-modding my interior, I'm down to the little things. One of those little things is the OEM window cranks. I hate em! For the haters, I'll just say it up front that yes, I have manual windows and yes that's by choice. With that said, I hate the stupid C clips that are a PITAS to remove...
I'm needing some new hoops. Planning on something in the 33 inch range. Continuing with my restomod theme, I wanted something more "modern." Settled on the Vision Ojos 17 inch. $850 out the door didn't hurt too bad. Discount tire. Haven't decided on the tires yet but the wheels will be here...
Now that I have a newly built 4500 and 205, I got the "other" setup staring at me. Knowing it's not going anywhere but storage, should I rebuild them and store them or store them and rebuild later? Maybe buy the kit now and buy new seals when I actually rebuild them?
A guy on another forum said he pulled several buzzer modules from the junkyard and was selling them for $40. These are the OEM buzzers for our trucks if optioned with them. My Custom Deluxe has no buzzer. However, I'm told all trucks have the receptacle. There should be 7 pins. Depending which...
Finally got fed up with the sticky OEM wheel. After much research I found what I was looking for. A half wrap from Forever Sharp. I love it. Thanks to @Old77 for turning me on to this company!
As for the details, it's 14 inch versus the 16 inch OEM. I like it better and gains an inch of lap...
I stumbled across this ad today. I bought one a few years ago for my 85. If you like the looks/function of a visor this is a good option that is still available as the old ones are difficult to find and often need lots of love to bring them back to life. They also have the option for built in...
I think I'm done with the sticky factory steering wheel. I'm looking for something modern, slightly smaller diameter, has an adapter that looks decent and retains the factory horn.
Anybody?
My water pump started leaking via the weep hole so today I put on my new TuffStuff HV pump. I'll add the TuffStuff pump is very nice quality. The black powder coat is A+!
So I thought while I was at it, I'd run down to O'Reilly's and get a new serpentine belt. Nothing wrong with the current one...
Final piece of the puzzle! 1/8th aluminum sheet, a little hacksaw, hole saw, file, countersink, stencil and 6 coats of clear. Boom! Stick a fork in it!
Done with this project. Before & after pics. LMC buckets, Fabbed bracket on original bench mounts, 2014 NOS center console/jumpseat, ACC carpet, ORD twin sticks, Holley Genuine Floor mats. Me loves it!
@Old77
Hey y'all,
Saw this on Gearz this morning. Who's gonna be the first Cave Canary and take one for the team?

Many of you know that I recently made some serious progress on my truck. A complete rebuild of the NV4500 and 205 T-case. Only the best parts available, meticulous attention to detail following the manual and everything visually inspected and measured with a micrometer.
Brand new driveshafts...
Not everyone may be familiar with Paint Protective Film (PPF). I have used the 3M brand on composite headlights, door edges and a few other exterior places. The stuff is amazing at protecting the paint from fading, scratches and surface contamination. The application takes a bit of skill to get...
First impression....I love em! Surprisingly well built. Powerdcoated tubular frame, nice vinyl and stitching, reclines forward and back, adjustable sliders, and most importantly, fits well and provides support. For $899/pair, I'm quite impressed.
Well, I have been driving the beast to work for a few days since the overhaul. First impressions:
1. The 5.61 version is so much more street friendly than the 6.34 it replaced!
2. It shifts unbelievably smooth. Like butter smooth. Kudos to the carbon syncros.
3. The 205 t-case and Twin Sticks...
So I discovered that my bench seat is literally falling apart today. I figured I'd order some new OEM style covers from USA1 and add some hog rings and pliers to the order. Then I removed the OEM covers and discovered the foam needs replaced. Worse yet, the lower horizontal bar had rotted &...
