    Getting quotes for paint/body work

A couple years ago I was quoted $10-12K to do my '82 one ton, and the body shop said that was basically the 20 footer price. If I wanted it to be flawless while up close and personal it would be $15-18K. Back in '03-04 it cost me almost $7K to paint my '80 Z28 and it was near flawless when done...

Show me your 8 lug wheels!

I've been looking at these for several months now, but man the roughly $325/each price tag on top of the cost of tires, mounting, balancing and lug nuts, etc. I can't bring myself to spend over $2,500 on a tire and wheel package when i've been averaging only about 500-600 miles a year...

Show me your 8 lug wheels!

I'm going to have to replace the tires at some point and when I do i'm just going to get the new style version from us mags in a modern 17" version so I can keep running a BFG all terrain. but I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money right now for a truck that doesn't get driven...

Show me your 8 lug wheels!

My opinion, one of the only sets of wheels that never gets old on these trucks! Except there's only a few sets of tires available for them these days..

    Small Block Lifter Premature Wear

Here's a little fuel for thought. This was an oil sample I had done on my built big block in my K30, the engine only has about 1,500ish miles on it in total at the time of this sample. So it's technically on the edge of being "broke in" at this point. I run Valvoline VR1 20w50 oil in it and on...

    1975 K20 build progress

More than likely the th350/203 to a 4 speed/205 is causing the length difference in the shafts. Also, you have the engine installed as a bare block, so you're missing hundreds of pounds off the nose just with that.. not including core support, body and all accessories. By the time its all said...

    Brake hard lines

inlinetube.com makes complete factory replacement/drop in brake line kits for these trucks and for the price of them, you can't mess with fabricating your own, or piecemealing it together. have installed a couple of kits and they are very nice.

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

My thinking though would still be that in a normal or somewhat normal application, it almost seems "excessive" to install one and it would just give another place to cause issue. By looking at the pictures your driveline angles appear relatively "normal" ~actually somewhat flat. You've got an...

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

now that you mention it, duh! on my part. Lol Many lifted blazers and broncos I have seen that setup, but stands to reason why i'd never seen them on most full size trucks. I do know as a kid growing up there were some seriously bad ass trucks around my parts when 42" swampers and then the 39.5...

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

I'm curious.. I've crawled around a fair amount of these trucks and have never seen a cardan joint on a rear driveshaft.. i've seen two piece driveshafts and some odditites but never a setup like that. All the time on front driveshafts but never the rear. Was it year specific or application...

327 SBC MSD 6AL-2 Ignition timing

You need to have the correct timing light when timing an engine with an MSD, an old inductive style (i have a sears model) or one that specifically picks up on the multiple sparks from the ignition box. MSD sells one, i'm having a bit of a brain fart today on the terminology, but this is...

K30 power steering return hose questions

That routing is correct. Not sure if you're looking on a phone or computer, but I took pictures of mine before and after i replaced them for reference. I cant seem to find the close up pictures of the connections on my computer but these should help you out. Never did get an answer myself out of...

    Oil pressure

My money is still going to be on the bearings are worn out, if you pulled the cap off and the bearing looked good, you'd be surprised at how worn out the top half of the rod bearings are if you spun one out to inspect it, and that's not even getting into cam bearing wear. If you did nothing else...

After market seatbelts are expensive... looking for other ideas

In the heavy equipment world we are mandated to replace complete seat/lap belt assemblies every 3 years from the installed date. At the company I work for now, they keep a computer record of when they are changed and we get notification 30 days from expiration that they are coming due for...

What have you done to your square lately??

I ran it across the scale at the elevator one night recently and weighed it. '82 K30, big block, th400, 33" tires, and a full tank of gas with me in it. 5,640 lbs.

    Hurst Shifter K10

I installed the B&M version for a truck (the taller model) in my 1982 K30, made a mounting plate the same size as the outer plastic cover so everything with the shifter sat down nice and flush, mounted the shifter to the plate and then used washers as shims between the bottom of plate and the...

Transmission is causing engine to stall

I'll throw a suggestion into the ring.. You gave it a tune up but did you check the condition of the advance weights and pins/bushings and springs under the rotor while you were replacing them? I have seen on several instances where similar conditions existed and the problem ended up being that...

    Mark IV 454 Engine Build

I would go with the performer 2.0 intake as it has proven to be a good all around intake on a big block chevy, and I will also tell you that I had a Comp Cams XE262 in my 454 that I removed and went quite a bit bigger in the last rebuild and it was a great all around cam and had gobs of torque...

    Filled both tanks - BRUTAL

Last time I drove the ol' girl late summer of last year, it cost me $175 to fill up. $9.90/gallon for 110 octane at the pump. Of course it gets blended down with ethanol free 93 a few points, but in my house we measure in smiles per gallon. Lol

Engine Doesn’t Like Starting When Hot

Edelbrock carb=Vapor locking. Put a phenolic spacer between carb and intake. It's boiling the gas out of the carb when it heat soaks. and check the timing as well.
