Heater core replacement. Are they all the same from all vendors? Where to buy?

I complain, but 30 years ago I couldn’t order a custom for exhaust system (or anything else for that matter) laying on the couch, delivered to my door by Thursday…. Lol. And the fact that I can get most any part for any old vehicle at the touch of a screen, is pretty amazing.

Heater core replacement. Are they all the same from all vendors? Where to buy?

I’d say that’s crazy but have seen Napa changing. Service is still much better and the real parts guys will tell you whether it’s junk or not. Like you just provided an example of. Eh well, times a changin….lol. Good to see some Napas are culling out the obvious low quality crap.

Heater core replacement. Are they all the same from all vendors? Where to buy?

Lol and the Napa one I got was too big…WTF? I do recall “adjusting” the coolant pipes a bit but they were in the right location anyways.

Help with redoing my Front Grille 82 C10 and building a parts list.

Ok, ya couldn’t tell that from the pic. Those phantom grilles typically go right over the Oe headlights and OE headlight buckets (the adjustable part). If you need the hard parts behind the headlights, may start lookin for someone parting out trucks or junkyard. As a more economical option...

Help with redoing my Front Grille 82 C10 and building a parts list.

you already have the headlights and adjusters. No need to re-purchase them unless I’m missing something. Your truck just has a phantom grille in place of the OE grille and headlight bezels.

    2 inch Rough Country Lift 76 K10

No comment on tires, but if you have the option still, I’d not use Rough Country springs unless you’re after the Roughest ride possible for your money. IMO I’d spend a few bucks more on quality better riding springs if I was starting with a new lift.

Heater core replacement. Are they all the same from all vendors? Where to buy?

Napa one fits like ****. A little too big. Think it’s aluminum but can’t remember. It worked and appeared to be quality but had to (carefully) cram it into the heater box and barely got the heater box to seal up. If summit gets good reviews I’d go with that. One of the places that still doesn’t...

Tires for Stock Rims '79 K20

Nope you’re fine. If you look at the wheel specs @AuroraGirl posted, they all have safety beads except the weird dually van rims, and it’s doubtful those wouldn’t either by 1979. Get some cool 16” tires in your favorite flavor and let er rip. Tube vs tubeless rim doesn't matter per the chart...

Don’t know what to do about shocks

3” of droop doesn’t sound bad. 3/4 ton leaf springs would be hard pressed to twist more than that and overextend.

Don’t know what to do about shocks

Stock height so no issue finding a plethora of different shocks. Shocks don’t change or affect ride height or stance. Measure twice, purchase once. Double check the length and bolt diameters of whatever you buy. The static height should be “about” mid stroke. What shocks? Depends on your...

    Ok you’re right.

BFG KO3 vs Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T

Can? It actually does to some extent. Has to if you’re making the treads softer. Is it an undesirable behavior or even noticeable? Not in the many sets of different tires I’ve siped. Even the way I drive. I’d say it’s largely conjecture.

That was my point. You are one of the folks who didn’t lose the context. Cheers!

BFG KO3 vs Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T

@Frankenchevy glad to hear I’m not the only one that has recognized the Ridge Grappler/Toyo RT tread design is hot garbage in snow. Maybe if they were manually siped (that always helps), but I never had mine done. They came on the truck, wore like cast iron, were smooth and not too loud, but...

Tires for Stock Rims '79 K20

You didn’t say how wide the rims are but stock would be how wide? But assuming they are 265/75/16 will be ok width wise, even if they’re GY Wranglers. Lol. Nothing inherently wrong with any of the dozens of Wrangler tire models. There’s some conjecture about tube vs tubeless rims and which have...

    Cowl Induction or stock?

Lo Lol, you’re right. Stock hood unless the engine don’t fit under it. Wheels,I voted stock only cause the visions aren’t my favorite. But cool aftermarket wheels is my vote

    Tire Size

245/75s and 265/75s are options as well. 265 gettin a bit wide for a 6” rim but doable.

What locker shall I go for?

Old school gettin ‘er done like pops used to in a 2wd! In your case and your intended use, you just want both wheels pulling at all times. Period. You’re not “punching the throttle” on snow and ice (I’d assume being from Sweden you know how to drive in snow). You have very little power on tap...

Then decide what look you want as well. 255/85s will look a bit “stuffed” at that suspension height.
  21. Grit dog

    Tire Size

To buckets point, 255/85 would likely fit, but she looks a little poochy in the suspension department, so you should do some measuring before buying. It’s easy. Measure clearances at the worst case, wheels turned, suspension compressed or stuffed and then compare your tire size to the bigger...

    Tire Size

235-85s max IMO. You may even consider real pizza cutters and go 215-85s. Reason being, assuming it’s a stock or stock-ish 70s engine and running perfectly, you’ll be lucky to get 130hp (less if you’re actually up in the mountains, plus summer, heat soak, borderline vapor lock, etc) out of the...

    327 vs 350 for a daily driver

327 because those numbers sound cooler than the 1,000,000,000 others with a “crate 350!” Same with 396/400/402 BB and 400 SB. More unique than a 454 or 350.

    Cowl Induction or stock?

Well, welcome, first of all. Second, ouch wtf that’s horribly unfortunate. Hope the shop is stepping up and not playing games if it got smashed in their parking lot. (Assuming it wasn’t a 3rd party damage). As to your plans for the truck? IMO those are your plans, do what you want.

Fwiw @Ricko1966, you obviously are a career mechanic and your wisdom and direction on this forum is beyond great. I’ve heard more “tricks” that I didn’t know come from you than all but a select few people I’ve known, past or present. That said, most people aren’t professional mechanics and your...
