    I bought a used 700R4 , I am tring to find out what it came out of . It has 1WAM164A stamped on the ID flat spot has a 2WD and a K case and a Corvette c4 tail housing . Any ideas would be greatly apreciated .

    starter rebuilding - advice needed

    I have been using a starter that the 1997 Tahoe 350 uses on all my Chevy engines with the large flywheel 168 tooth , that most use . They have a reduction gear and are very reasonably on line . Just put one on my GMC works great .

    Stay away from Muncie's made in 63 they had no bushing under the 1st gear and can seize to the out put shaft under heave loads .

    I used 3/4 length headers gave all the ground clearance you need to keep exhaust inside frame rails .

    I will make this short Yes, it is worth it, all the story's about 4oo's overhearing I have never had one overheat as long as you have a decent cooling system not a worn out clogged up mess. In fact, I have one sitting in my garage waiting for something to put it in.

    Knckle Buster hit it on the nose , I always used a paperclip to check my starter gear cleanance .

    Aurora Girl hit it on the nose some one put a 4L60E connector in this trans . I think monster trans did the rebuild . I ordered a new one , single pin . Thanks all .

    No CRANK after rain......

    You mite look at the distributor cap and rotor . Some of the after market caps collect moisture and HEI rotors can trace through and ground with condensation .

    New stainless mid leight headers $118 on eBay's . They are for a 88-97 but fit this 85 perfect .
