    Preferred Differential Lubricant

To me brand doesn't matter as long as it meets the OEM requirements. We used to use Shell synthetic; it was fine along with NAPA. I buy whatever is cheapest and changed it out once a year or 50k. edit, was much cheaper at a farm store that's where shell was available.

    SBC Cylinder Head Decision

307's were grocery getter engines. They also got a bad reputation with flat cam issues that didn't seem to effect other V8's at the time. There are better engines to start with that are cheap, 350. More CI is always better.

Do intermittent wipers use a different wiper motor?

Do you know who has new modules? Can find them listed in several places but are discontinued and/or out of stock. Used are no good, have several, all bad.

    Preferred Differential Lubricant

Prefer synthetic in rear especially if towing, front non-synthetic is fine. Very important to check front for water, see milkshake oil a lot.

    76 C10 Fuel Tank Vent

Does your truck have an intact emissions label? If not they are on this site. Yes you will need a sealed system to keep fuel vapors in check. Sealing helps control light hydrocarbon loss during storage. That is one of the issues with vehicles in extended storage, they run rough on the first...

    Loctite, which one and where?

One thing I can say for sure, European manufacturers must buy it in 55 gal drums.

    Loctite, which one and where?

Really don't need Loctite except for a few items. Those would be parts like driveline, sometimes caliper depending on design, floating axle bolts, may be steering shaft. Items like that. Certainly, don't want it on engine brackets bolts, accessories, intake bolts, lug nuts, ect. Sometimes an...

    350 Water Pump Woes

PH test strips are available. We use them when hooked up to the flush machine.

    350 Water Pump Woes

Make sure all grounds are intact. Block to body, body to battery, battery to block. Have seen corrosion issues caused by missing or poor grounds. Usually, the heater core is the first thing that goes but grounds are cheap and adding extras won't hurt anything.

    SBC Cylinder Head Decision

Mentioned hunting, big cams and carbs don't play well in that application. These vehicles are relatively heavy. Too many times I have seen overbuilt engines in trucks. All they do is suck gas like you own an oil company with no power at low RPM's.

    Vibration at 2500 rpm

clutch cover gone off center, fan clutch if equipped. 350's are internally balanced so doubt balancer is the issue. If it vibrates and stationary without being in gear that eliminates driveline.

    77 C30 Dually Suspension

Stay with name brands like Moog. Usually twice the money of offshore but worth every cent. Just did a 1 ton Ford with RA parts. I try to buy local when I can, but even with shipping still much less than local.

    Wireing help please

What is the base truck? Appears to be a Vortec small block with an HEI dist? If I was guessing one is power supply for electric choke [oil pressure looking plug] other could be 12V to dist.

Newbie doing 454 swap need some guidance

If available buy a complete upper kit. Heads, intake and cam matched to the application. Possibly Edlebrock, Trick Flow, or AFR makes one. Go directly the manufacturers consumer service line not a catalog or internet retailer.

Newbie doing 454 swap need some guidance

Doubt 500 hp can be achieved with those heads. They are a low RPM design for torque. Need to make sure ports aren't larger in the intake than the head. They likely are. It's a HP killer. A good set of aftermarket heads and matching valve train could get the HP desired even with low compression.

Where can I get an OEM thermostat for a 1974 Chevy C10 with a 454?

Have had good luck with AC parts even though box says china, korea, ect. Yeah, who knows for sure. I bought 2 window regulators one was ac other was dorman. They were identical down to the plating color. Both made in china.

    Big Block C1500

Those later big blocks don't seem to be in demand. Our local PP had 3 at one time. None were sold they were scrapped. Seems kind of sad to me I always liked BB. I don't want to go to the expense with my trucks both have new engines. They would just end up another thing on the floor that's in the...

    Big Block C1500

Have you watched Engine Masters? They recently aired a dyno run of a 407 small block. Had aftermarket heads and lower end but it produced 550+ HP with a relatively mild cam and compression. Know it won't have torque of a big block produces but might be a cheaper easier change. Just tossing it...

Where can I get an OEM thermostat for a 1974 Chevy C10 with a 454?

The shop I work at tries to keep prices down for customers even if it costs them money. Makes no sense to me. Service writers most of the time pick the cheapest part. It's a constant battle between techs and front counter. When I get a cheap stat is goes back up front and I order the "higher"...

Hard Start when engine is warm.

Really question the choke removal. Not that it's bad if vehicle is used in hot climates, just that it raises questions about their ability. Really no good reason to do it. Need to check basic things before purchasing any parts. Fuel pressure, float level, proper jets, ect. Phenolic spacers are...

Hard Start when engine is warm.

Did the carb shop do the adjusting on the vehicle? If not, we need to start there. It is common [especially today] with low octane ethanol fuel to boil inside carb during heat soak.

    Sediment in fuel filter

Sugar doesn't dissolve in fuel unless water is present. About the only good thing about ethanol fuel is it works like a dry gas additive. Haven't seen water in a fuel tank in forever. Used to be more common.
