    Fuel tank/pump replacement

I've got a Delphi assembly to go in, hopefully it'll last. I really don't want to cut an access hatch for replacing these pumps - but they are a bit of a pain to do. At least dropping the tank made it super easy for me to install the new Curt hitch! I agree, all these parts now are hit or...

    Fuel tank/pump replacement

That yellow stuff- varnish or whatever it is- would have to be all cleaned off. Never done it and not sure how to go about it or if I can get it all clean.

Elaborate please, why is it better. Have personal experience with more than one brand?

    Fuel tank/pump replacement

Well, thought I’d just install the new pump assembly- but this tank isn’t looking so good inside. It’s a Spectra replacement 40 gallon that PO put in prob 12+ years ago. Old assembly says Airtex on top, but looks like the actual pump has been replaced with a Bosch unit. Guess I’ll order a tank-...

New seat bottom foam vs re-building existing?

So Grit, old post - but curious what you landed on? Looking at the ACI bottom cushion. My seat is really in great condition, but also a bit softer on that driver side and bolster.

    Help identifying these two things

So if I’m swapping to carb, the cruise should still work- if it has VSS, and is there an easy workaround for that? Although, I can’t see where this plug can possibly go, two plugs already into the brake switch. Sorry, this is not my strong suit and just confused. The truck hasn’t really been...

    Suburban rear AC

Anybody within 3-4 hours of Bham AL got some Burb rear AC parts? Mine didn't come with, so would like to find the overhead unit along with the trim panel that covers the lines going down the passenger pillar. Will be doing an aftermarket rear setup w/custom lines most likely, unless I can just...

    Help identifying these two things

Ok, so I’m guessing that maybe since 87 was first TBI year where they used a spacer for the qjet intake and maybe other one year changeover items- and I have a TH400, it’s not necessary (never has been plugged into anything)and can just keep dangling.

    Help identifying these two things

Here’s a few more pics, both wires look to go into firewall. Can’t really see corresponding on engine side. I see absolutely nowhere for this plug to go. Truck has all the trailering packages, possible it was for a factory brake controller? Truck had an old Kelsey Hayes hydraulic controller...

    Help identifying these two things

Yep. Purple and pink w/black stripe. I’ll try to get under there with a flashlight and see if I see any else that might help. But if the other box is def cruise control only, I can remove it when I carb swap cause ECM won’t be controlling throttle anymore. (It’s a prefect spot to mount the new...

    Help identifying these two things

Removed the OEM radio awhile back, project been on back burner. I don’t think I unplugged this connector with the purple/pink wires. What does this plug go to? Also, the black box behind it with the large plug at the bottom- what is it? Thanks for any help!!

    OEM trailer wiring Suburban R20

Ok guys, I see the harness coming out of the firewall on engine side- runs along the frame rail driver side, has the typical yllw/dk grn/lt grn/brn wires, and the two wires for the fuel pump. After pulling all the tape off and studying all these splices, I just can’t imagine this is the way GM...

    TH400 leak around speedo drive

Thanks Matt, that's very helpful. I'll drop by my trans guy's shop and see if he can help me out with those seals.

    TH400 leak around speedo drive

See what you guys think. Pretty sure this is the source of some small leakage from my trans. 1987 R20 Burb w/TH400 and 454. Is this something that I can repair myself or need a trans shop for? If I can, what would be required?

    MY-6 \ A833 to NV3500 Swap behind LS

How did you like the MY6? I've thought about one of them behind a 292 straight six I have sitting. Not sure about the gear ratios and strength, the 292 will be very torque-y.

    Kelsey Hayes brake controller

So I finally got around to removing the old KH hyrdraulic brake controller. I didn't harvest the entire wire going to back of truck. Wondering if there would be any interest if someone was wanting something period correct? Not even sure what it would be worth to someone. I have the unit and...

    Chevy 292 upgrades?

I don't think the 292 had the integrated head. The Clifford stuff is expensive, and even a used 4 bbl intake still fetch a decent price. Tom at 12Bolt is a wealth of knowledge on the straight sixes, and has alot of parts available as well. I have a fresh 292 that was going into my 49...

    big block starter replacement

Agreed, didn't ask for a parts store suggestion. Everybody has their opinion on which to use or not, and we all know what they say bout opinions. I bought a new, not reman, with lifetime warranty. Price not terribly more than reman, heck it even came with new starter bolts! Don't wanna try...

    big block starter replacement

Bucket, The linked newer truck version has a slightly different solenoid setup - looks like a large lug connecting to motor and another large lug below it. Assuming the one small terminal is the 'S' terminal. Connect battery wire to the bottom one that is opposite of the motor connection...

    big block starter replacement

Rick - already did all the tests and diagnosed the starter. Simply want to test the 37 year old wires while its easy and just confirm while they are disconnected and I can manipulate them a bit.
