350 and 4 speed manual removal
don't remove the hood. remove the core support and the bumper, that's how I have done it. remove the grill, headlight bezels and wire harness from the core support, then the core support, loosen the 2 bolts on the backside of each fender well and the 1 bolt on top of the fender by the hinge...- malibuman402

Welcome from NC. if its a NP833 with a hurst shifter it is rare. no production numbers are available. RPO code MM7 or MY6. my 84 C10 has one, RPO code MM7. it has close to the same gear ratios as a 700R4. 4th gear is a .73 OD.- malibuman402

BBC swap in my k20
i did a small block to big block swap and used the small block mounts, fits good. just bolted the small block mounts to the big block and put the motor in.- malibuman402

454 Timing
I would suggest 8-12 degrees BTDC with the vacume advance disconnected. then reconnect and take it for a ride.- malibuman402

454 headers question
i have a 427 bbc in my 84 and the headers i run are patriot mid length headers for a 70-72 chevelle, with 1 and 7/8 primary tubes. i bought them from JEGS or summit in 2002 and there still in good shape. i think the part number is 8013. check them out.- malibuman402

i have the aluminum case, passon performance in PA is a mopar trans specialist shop. and brewerperformance is where i bought bits and pieces for my trans. ie speedo gears and gaskets. finding a gm a833 is difficult. i have only seen 2 trucks with this trans in it and one of those is mine.- malibuman402

np833a trans gear ratio is 3.09 first, 1.76 second, 1:1 third, and .73 OD fourth. very similar to the 700R4. the bell housing PN:14061655 used to be available from wheeler bros. inc. VSE corporation 409 drum ave, somerset, PA 15501. i had to buy a bellhousing to replace the broken one that was...- malibuman402
