    What goes here?

Going off memory here, on my ‘88 K5 I believe it went to the A.I.R. pump valve. The pump is always pumping air, but it had a valve so under certain conditions when it didn’t sent air into the exhaust manifold it diverted it into the air cleaner.

Odd electrical runs from starter to alternator to junction block

I didn’t take it as being argumentative. It’s cool. I was looking it up too, but didn’t get a chance to reply before you posted. That’s a 12 AWG wire going from the alternator output to the junction block on the fire wall and a 10 AWG wire from the alternator output to the battery. Putting an...

Odd electrical runs from starter to alternator to junction block

On its face, going from the alternator output to the junction block is convenient since you can run the wire along the valve cover and tie into the rest of the electrical system at a point where heavier gauge wires are feeding everything else. It would seem like a pain to run the alternator...

79 k10 th350, Dies when put into gear

Three things come to mind. First is fuel delivery. Clogged fuel filter, clogged fuel lines, old rubber fuel hose with cracks allowing it to suck air, bad or weak fuel pump not supplying enough fuel under load. Second is a vacuum leak. Third is timing and idle speed. I know you said it ran...

No crank, no click, out of ideas

You need to get a wiring diagram from the reference section of this forum. It’s on the home page. It will tell you where the fusible links are. I took a snapshot of parts of it and posted below, but you really should have the whole diagram if you’re chasing down wires. The fusible links are on...

No crank, no click, out of ideas

Did you check the fusible links? You said the POs redid a bunch of wiring, did they use a replacement wiring harness like something from Painless or just do it from scratch?

    Fuse block connectors

I presume you’re asking about the accessory slots on the front of the fuse block and not the connectors that go on the back side for the fuses to plug into? You can use any garden variety male spade terminal to plug into it. If you are looking for the plastic connector piece that locks in place...

88 350 tbi tear down. Heads and piston question

There are folks on here that are a lot more savvy about engines than I, but you can always start by entering PNs into a part dealer’s website like Summit, Jegs, Napa, etc. A quick search on Summit didn’t find PN 02-233-04b, but 345NP came up with Sealed Power brand cast pistons. Cast pistons are...

    Wiring to battery or alternator?

I also agree with battery. If you’re drawing enough current to need an 8 AWG wire it’s best to route it as short as possible. The longer the wire = more resistance.

    Cool early Father's Day gift

Yes. It only hits 44° when vacuum is extremely high, which is on deceleration. Once you give it throttle and the vacuum decreases the timing drops and returns to 36°. The red highlighted row near the bottom is idle vacuum. The very bottom row is higher vacuum than idle and you can see it only...

What wires went to that connector?

    88 gmc v2500 tbi 350 engine identification.

I have an ‘88 K5 with the factory 350 TBI engine (even the original build) with 274k miles. I know this because my uncle bought it brand new and was the only owner until selling it to me last year and I’ve been around it for 36 years now. The engine is black. I’m not an expert on exact years /...

    Cool early Father's Day gift

I didn’t have to do much to get it going. Right off the bat it will generate a base timing table for you with a conservative advance, a ‘safe’ table. You can generate as many new tables as you want and for each one you’ll be able to input your own specs. See the attached pic. I played with the...

That’s awesome she did that for you! I use those in two of my squares and I love them. You won’t be disappointed.

    Unable to find these relays

I echo what @Old Guy Bill said, get a wiring diagram. I have an ‘80 K25 and I’ve been through all the electrical and never saw anything like that on the driver side fender. If it was related to a no crank issue maybe the PO installed it to have remote start. My K25 was my grandpa’s truck and he...

    Beginner Alternator Question

I came across some aftermarket alternators with left and right offsets that said they were a fit when I was looking to upgrade to one wire units. They were not GM, they were aftermarket brands, but still came up in my search results as a possible fit and I almost bought the wrong one. If it...

    Beginner Alternator Question

I know you were replying to @75gmck25 and I don’t mean to step on his toes, but yes. 12si is 94ish amps. You’d know if it’s a 10si by the lower amp rating, usually 63 for a stock one. Also, when you shop alternators be sure to make sure the offset is correct. If you were replacing a stock...

    Beginner Alternator Question

I like @75gmck25 idea of going with a 12SI. My ‘88 K5 uses one. Externally they are the same and use the same factory plug as your current alternator but with the higher amperage. No modifications needed. GM upgraded to these in the mid 80s with more and more electric components like power...

    Beginner Alternator Question

If you’re not getting over 13V with the engine on then you’re not charging. Check the voltage from the alternator output wire. There’s also a two wire connector that plugs into the alternator. A larger gauge red wire that should be constant hot and smaller gauge brown or white wire (may have...

Is there a good spot for keyed power under the hood?

Since you’re going EFI you won’t need a choke. Is there a choke wire available? I don’t know anything about your set up, how stock or modified or hacked up it is by POs, but factory wiring had the choke powered with key on AND through the oil pressure switch so it only sent power to the choke...

Is there a good spot for keyed power under the hood?

A little more info would be helpful, like what type of device you need to power because the power demand is going to determine how you wire it up. Like @75gmck25 said, those circuits are not meant for high amperage, you may be better off using a relay. Regardless of how you do it, don’t take...

    Yet another Digital Problem

I hit post before I was done writing. It may not have plugged in if a PO bypassed it by connecting the wires together. Do you remember actually unplugging it?

    Yet another Digital Problem

Those are the starter signal wires. They send power to the starter solenoid telling the starter to crank the engine when the key is turned. Yellow is the neutral safety start switch. It runs from the ignition switch in the steering column to the neutral safety switch. The purple wire is the...

    Confusion on fuel and more.

First, get yourself a wiring diagram. From the main page on this forum go to Reference Library, then wiring manuals. Are you running a single or dual tank system? You said the shop didn’t add the signal wire for your new tank. Is the new tank a replacement for the factory single tank or did...
