    2 cycle gas mix ratio

Is that due to higher viscosity? Just curiosu about the technicalities here.

    2 cycle gas mix ratio

A while back, I was given a 50 cc 1978 Honda "Hobbit" moped. I just got it running. Before the "that's even worse than a Ford" pile-on starts, I'll point out that it gets about 90 mpg, haha. Anyway, it's supposed to take a 25:1 mix of gas and oil. I mixed up some 25:1, and it smokes some when...

    Help on speedometer spline

I'm pretty sure that's it. Thanks for the link; I hadn't run across that website. Since I haven't got the original part. I'll have to see if I can get an accurate measurement on the hole the key fits in.

I hadn't thought about using a nail, that's a good idea, would be pretty simply to modify.

    Help on speedometer spline

4 speed manual. Don't know about the gearing. It's got 17" tires. You'd have to replace the whole cable and sheath, too, since it won't make the 90 degree turn to the transmission, as it is.

    Help on speedometer spline

Yes, it has a gear reduction box. So its the connector spline between that box, and the gear coming out of the trans housing. Aaron

    Help on speedometer spline

Hi all: My son's 1975 GMC K15 needs some speedometer help. It's got a right angled gear that comes off the transmission, that's driven by the gear that comes out of the trans. These two gears appear to have been connected with some sort of spline, which was broken. The cable side of the...

    Ignition Switch

So a year or so ago, I was having starting issues that I traced to the ignition switch on top of the column under the dash so not the lock cylinder. (Per Edelbrock's point, you don't need to lock vehicles around here). My old ignition switch was malfunctioning when the weather got hot, and it...

    Ignition Switch

Bit of a hail mary here, wondering if anybody's got an ignition switch that will fit a 1989 V3500. I put an aftermarket one in about a year ago, and I think it's failing already; in warm weather, the truck occasionally won't start, which was the problem I was having with my original one. Anybody...

    aftermarket steering wheel install

All: We got a steering wheel for my son's 75 GMC. Link here, https://www.lmctruck.com/steering/steering-wheels/gm-1973-99-wood-and-leather-grained-vinyl-steering-wheels, it's the one on the far right. The kit LMC sent us didn't come with any directions, and the links on the card in the box...

    rough idle

Thanks, Matt. That's my assumption as well, that we got some crud sucked in out of the tank. The truck mostly sat for quite a few years, for it was given to my son. I'll try those suggestions. Aaron

    rough idle

My son has a 75 GMC with the 350. All of a sudden, it will barely idle. Problem started shortly after it ran out of gas. We replaced the fuel filter up in the carburetor, and I went ahead an put a different fuel pump in it, too, since it wasn't very much $$. Still same problem. It starts fine...

taillight issue on my wife's harp-mobile

You guys nailed it. What I hadn't figured out, was that the little ground contact that's on the bulb housing wasn't making contact with the main ground bar on the whole taillight unit. You can't see it, when the bulb is installed, so it doesn't jump out at you when you look at it. I attached a...

taillight issue on my wife's harp-mobile

The whole taillight housing grounds to the frame. It's real easy to see. This guys video here: has a decent visual of the setup. Aaron

taillight issue on my wife's harp-mobile

All: My wife has a 1983 volvo wagon, which I'm trying to keep on the road, since it's the only car we've got that she can get her concert harp in and out of, by herself. It's kinda on its last legs, but as long as I can make it last... Anyway, it's got a taillight out, and I'm stumped. I've...

looking for place to buy black wheels with trim for 4wd

All: My son and I are getting his 75 GMC k15 High sierra on the road. He like these rims: https://www.carid.com/vision-wheels/56-midway-satin-black-6070452338.html. However, I can't tell if they fit a 4wd, and I'm not having any luck finding any black rims anywhere, that have those open...

    Whats your opinion these welders?

I've got the welder I've got this welder, except without the digital screen. My cousin is a professional welder, and he recommended it as just fine, for a begginner such as myself. I put cab corners, new rockers, and lower door skins on my 89 crew cab with it. Any bad welds were user error...

Replacing turn signal switch in 75 High Sierra

So it looks to me like the turn signal switch is bad, in my son's 75 GMC. You can get the signals to work briefly, by playing around with the lever, right on the edge of where it would click on, but as soon as you click it all the way, the signal won't work anymore. Seems like bad switch to me...

    fixing hood hinges

thanks, when I looked on LMC earlier, the expensive ones were all that showed up. What does "billet" mean, in this context? Aaron

    fixing hood hinges

Tried the fix Andy detailed, above. Improved the hood's fit, but it's still sticking up some, so I'm guessing we need to replace/rebuild them. On the replacement side, I see that LMC's version is almost 800 bucks. Anybody got aftermarket replacement hinges that are cheaper, that you've been...

    fixing hood hinges

The hood buckle issue is separate from my main question here though, which is, how do I get the hinges to suck the back of the hood down to level with the front fenders. Could that be caused by weak springs on the hinges, or could something else be the issue? Aaron

    fixing hood hinges

Yeah, we've greased up the hinges pretty well. I can certainly hit them again, but as the hood sits up like an inch and a half from the front fenders, I'd be surprised if the fix is that simple. (Though I've been wrong before...). Agreed on the LMC braces--Shoulda done more research. they...

    fixing hood hinges

Hi: My son and I are working on his 75 high sierra. He had the usual hood buckle, we got the LMC brackets to fix it. When we got it, the hood was sitting way too high, back by the cowl. We just got his hood back on, after painting, and his hood still wants to sit up real high, by the cowl. We...
