Can I use this hole for filling oil?

That’s what new car manufacturers claim on their cars. I was using it as a joke because it’s SO unreal. Rebuilding engines is something I enjoy though! Still would never let any engine get past 3,000 without an oil change just to have an excuse to rebuild it.

    Bare Hands

Honestly, I’ve never worn a pair when working on vehicles. I understand their purpose but hate to have them on my hands. I’m training to be a diesel mechanic and even they don’t require them. Maybe it’s a good thing and should start protecting my hands while I’m young but they make it harder to...

Can I use this hole for filling oil?

I’m not trying to plug the hole with anything that’s not supposed to be there. just wondering if I can fill oil through them. I’ll be putting a PCV valve in one and a breather in the other and was going to just pull one of those out every time I change the oil to fill through it. I take both out...

Can I use this hole for filling oil?

Thanks guys! I guess I’ll just have to wait a minute or two longer when filling up with oil. Good thing it only gets changed every 10,000 miles anyway…. ;)

Can I use this hole for filling oil?

Thank you for the reply. Mine have baffles underneath. Would it hurt anything if I cut one side out? Seeing how the more expensive ones don’t have them this shouldn’t be an issue?

Can I use this hole for filling oil?

Ok, so I ordered this nice set of valve covers on a kinda last minute order from LMC. Two Questions. One, can I fill oil from this PCV/breather hole? (See picture below) Two, if not, how would I go about getting an oil fill hole cut for a cap? Is this something I can do or is it even...

What have you done to your square lately??

Love that sound! Still saving up for some long tubes though. I’ve got the glass packs dumped at the axle with no pipe after them but have heard they will sound better with a tail pipe. Any suggestions or leave them as they are?

What have you done to your square lately??

Nice exhaust! I got mine for $26 dollars apiece at Oriellys and I thought that was a good deal. I love the sound of glass packs. I know most people want Flowmasters now but they’re too hollow sounding to me.

Recommendations while tearing down for valve job?

I would replace the springs while you’re in there. How much is the shop doing? I would suggest having the valve guides and seats replaced also (unless you have the 882 heads that have everything integrated like I do than that could cost a lot to get them all drilled out and fit with replaceable...

What have you done to your square lately??

I’ve been working in the dark trying to make a new exhaust system. The old one just didn’t settle with me and I’ve wanted glasspacks for awhile. Finally got my spark plug wires in the right location and got the truck running again. Gave my truck its first tattoo…

What have you done to your square lately??

Yes it was running before. I tried to time it when I first installed the distributor after I did a top end rebuild in the spring but couldn’t se the timing mark. No matter how far I turned the distributor in either direction the mark wasn’t there. Finally I pulled the valve cover and turned the...

    HELP! My truck won’t start!

I’m thinking I might have moved them over a terminal. Is there any way I can check which one the no. 1 cylinder should be on without removing the valve cover to look at when the valves are closed?

    HELP! My truck won’t start!

The truck ran great before the tune up. Yes the rotor was put on before the cap. (I’m going to assume I put it on correctly) Carbon button? Not sure what this is, I’ll be honest. Is the picture attached the carbon button? If so, yes it’s in but if its installed correctly I don’t know. I...

    HELP! My truck won’t start!

So… my truck won’t start. I did a tune up today (cap, rotor, spark plugs. Didn’t mess with the carburetor because it won’t start) put everything back together and it doesn’t want to fire. Cranks over and back fires through the carburetor but won’t start up. I am not experienced in...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ahh I see what you are saying. My distributor was installed 180 out already and I was having to time it off of a companion cylinder. I’m doing a tune up anyway so I decided I would turn the distributor back to normal and pull it all the way out. That brings up a question. Could I have turned it...
