    TBI to Carb swap

Another question I have, once I remove the TBI and swap the distributor. What else is controlled by the ECM or do I even need it?

    TBI to Carb swap

I have 350 TBI, it's registered as an 86 but I was told it was an 89, the TBI been giving all kinds of trouble and the PO had said he picked with it and stuff. So I have an 83 with a 350 also with a carb. So my intention was to swap the intake and carb onto the TBI and make it all mechanical...

    Carb with no choke

I have a 350 SBC with a quadrajet carb and electric choke. I want to put it in my project truck, that I plan I using just for summer Sunday/weekend driving. Not daily use but just summer use well say. I was wondering what would it be like to run it carbed with no choke in the summer time only...

    TBI Starting Questions

First time ive ever dealt with one, I understand there's no carb or choke. But I am only quoting what I was told when I bought the truck and came here in hopes someone could shine a little light in my problem or perhaps lead in me in the right direction as to what could be wrong.

    TBI Starting Questions

I was talking the PO afain and questioned him on it. He said " it be should be just unplugged from the side of the carb" Could this be the TPS he's talking about?

    TBI Starting Questions

Recently picked up an 89 C3500 C&C. 350 TBI, truck runs and drives. Issue is, truck is real hard to start cold, turns over 30-45 seconds before even making an offer. Put some gas down the throttle body and start right away and starts fine after its been running. PO mentioned a choke and that it...

    2wd to 4wd conversion

Okay, im seeing and reading about changing motor mounts and cross member, is this for clearance issues with stock springs? Im doing 4-6 of lift so I didn't think there be any clearance issues.

    2wd to 4wd conversion

I have a 4wd donor frame that I was originally gunna make a truck out of but it's pretty thin and holy. I had the complete 1 ton dually there, running and driving except for brakes. Little rough around the edges. They both share 56" springs in the rear, that was a bonus. So I figured why...

    2wd to 4wd conversion

This topic has probably been pounded to death but here it is again. I was planning on building a 3/4 ton 4wd pick up from the ground up. I just got the axles under the chassis and got it rolling. . The body was shot, the only donor truck I could find with a decent cab was an 86 1 ton dually...

    Yet another bleeding brake post

Okay so read the post in the link. So if I figured it right. Of you blow a brake line, and trip the proportion valve. You can then open a bleeder on the working side of the brakes. To simulate a leak I'm guessing and then causing the proportion valve to trip back? Am I correct in thinking that...

    Manual locking hubs disassembly

Coming from where we come from rust is every where and options and parts are limited cause everything has just been eaten by it. So I imagine that's what I'll end up doing

    Manual locking hubs disassembly

Okay guys, a little off topic, but if opened a diff and the gears were rusted. How much rust would u call to much rust? I just opened the 14 bolt rear I had laying around that I intended to use and it's quiet rusted but appears to be only surface rust. The gears look to be good shape otherwise...

    Manual locking hubs disassembly

Okay so I eventually gave up and loved onto the other side just to see if it was different or of there was something I was missing. Anyway, you could almost say this side fell apart. Everything came off with little to no effort. Was packed full of grease. Took the cap off, outer snap ring, inner...

    Manual locking hubs disassembly

So your saying once I take out the outer larger snap ring it should just pull out? I've tried everything every put a pullers on it and it won't come off. It sounds freely and there's some spring to it when u push it in and out. I feel like there something simple or technique that im im missing

    Manual locking hubs disassembly

I removed one on the outer part, everything can turn sererate from the rest of it, there's a little play but nothing seemed to wanna move, I've read some have a "keeper screw" but this one dont seem to, stumped at this point. Maybe you have bang the rotor off from behind?

    Manual locking hubs disassembly

I already removed one snap ring, could there be another?

    Manual locking hubs disassembly

Does anyone have any experience with dismantling this kind of locking hubs? I wanna change rotors and wheel bearing. But now I'm stumped, there's some play in it but it don't want to budge, I don't know if it just needs force and is being stubborn or there is something I'm not seeing.

    Front and Rear Axle Install

Right now, both hubs spin freely and are pretty sound. Right now that's all I'm really looking for, so perhaps they will be a temporary fit for the time being until I track down something better. I have another on there that I'm gunna haul the cover off and check

    Front and Rear Axle Install

The u-joints and ball joints also seem very good, it steers freely and the hubs spin freely once I got the old pads and calipers off. I plan on changing wheel bearings and I have a new steering arm and I need a new steering shock. There is a couple chips out of the ring gear though all the same...

    Front and Rear Axle Install

So I pulled the cover off the front diff I had and this is what I found. It was completely dry of oil, and some rust. It seems to be only surface rust. Is it any cause for concern or could I just give it all a good cleaning and new oil you think?

    Front and Rear Axle Install

Thanks for all the info guys. I did notice on my 83 3/4 ton donor truck that the vent from the diff was routed up and clipped to the bottom of the bed. It was something that stood out to me that made a sense. So i was sure to remember to do that aswell.
