C10 vs K10 steering component kits

I'm having a good time trying to find a front end rebuild kit for my 83 k10 suburban. C10 kits seem to be common. But ive only found a couple that specifically state they are for K series. And they are the cheap parts w/o grease fittings. I guess my question is....are the ball joints / tie...

    Dumb question.....

What is this called? Think it's got a vacuum leak looking for a new gasket.

    TH400 seems to be dragging

This may seem silly....but are you 100% sure you dont have a break dragging? And 60mph at 2500 seems right-ish if you are running stock wheels and tires. Should be 215/85/16 right (30ish")? Where in KS you at? My lady is from SE Kansas and im down there pretty frequently of you need a...

    TH400 seems to be dragging

Yeah...i thought auto locking hubs were a relatively new feature for trucks. (Like 2000s). Lol but....untill I bought this burb in Feb, I had never owned anything 4x4. I most def knew NOTHING about them. Edit- lol now I know just enough to know that I knew nothing

    TH400 seems to be dragging

TBH I did not know auto locking hubs was even an option in 83. I'm still new to sqaures / 4x4 in general. My 83 K10 burb has a 454 w/ TH400. I try to keep her just under 2500rpm, which is about 68mph with my 32s. She gets about 12mpg if im good at keeping steady speed and drive for highest...

Think I need new springs? shocks? ROUGH RIDE

If I'm ever out in the SW I'll take you up on that. Lol I am assuming this set up cost upwords of 2k tho, right? I doubt I can swing it. And i have no clue what CUCV axles are. Ill have to do some research. Was hoping to take her out to Eagle CO (9.5ish hours) next week. But I dont think...

Think I need new springs? shocks? ROUGH RIDE

Would I be able to run 32s at the stock ride hight? It seems much taller than the burbs we had growing up. I was told that this truck was "built to tow". Is it possible that this is 3/4ton suspension? This is a K10, not K20. Is there a visible difference between the two?

Think I need new springs? shocks? ROUGH RIDE

I've been pricing parts. And I kinda think I maybe want to just go ahead and put a small lift on it. It's really not that much more $$$ if im allready replacing all the shocks. I think 2.5" would look tuff. Not sure if I want to go as much as 4"...but idk I have monroe adjustable air shocks...

Think I need new springs? shocks? ROUGH RIDE

It's been a min sense I checked. But somewhere in the ball park of 38-40psi. What is considered stiff?

Think I need new springs? shocks? ROUGH RIDE

Now....the previous owner claims that they built this thing to tow a cabin cruiser through the Ozarks. Of they were overloading the rear springs this would cause them to maybe be sagging a bit? Could that be whats cashing the ride hight difference?

Think I need new springs? shocks? ROUGH RIDE

My drive way is not level at all. I don't have a good picture of the full profile, I'll get one later. Need any other pictures of suspention components?

Think I need new springs? shocks? ROUGH RIDE

So...I dont know jack about suspension. The suspention on my 83 k10 suburban is INCREDIBLY stiff and the truck rides incredibly rough. I know these aren't Cadillacs but something must be wrong. Buddies bone stock 84 C20 rides like a dream in comparison. In mine, you feel EVERY bump and up...

    TH400 help.

I really prefer to be in total control of my machines. Shifting gears is fun and the ability to pop start a vehicle is nice, has saved me a number of times. As much as I drive this truck I think it will pay for itself in a year-ish. (25+ miles a day + regular trips to the mountains from Kansas...

    TH400 help.

@SquareRoot I am getting just over 12mpg with my set up....assuming I'm not driving straight into the wind or pulling a bunch of hills. Would really like to see 15-16 because this is a daily / mountain bike trip camper.

    TH400 help.

It's quite intermittent....today and yesterday it had zero issues. But the problem does only happen after sitting over night. Ive been looking for a NV4500 sense I bought the Truck. Truck was originally a 4speed and they converted to the TH400 when they did the 454 swap. Going back to man...

    TH400 help.

I would assume that if it was low on fluid, that it would act that way regardless of temp. Again, it's only when its cold. Which is odd to me. I've read that overfilling these a little is no big deal. Can anybody confirm this? I just drove it 175mi to SE Kansas....zero issues...driving...

    TH400 help.

It feels just like the C6 in my Lincoln would when the oil was WAY low. But ive checked it a bunch and its not. This truck only has a slight leak on the rear diff. Does not use or lose anything else surprisingly.

No. Its silent. Nothing seems out of the ordinary. If I put my foot on the break and gently rev it up....it will engage, and pretty gently.

    TH400 help.

So.... I've searched the forum and have not found an answer to this question. maybe I'm searching wrong? Is there a process? Or do you guys just type key words into the search bar like ive been trying? Regardless.... My trans acts like its low on fluid when its cold. Like....if I just fire...

    Ford Trash Talk Thread lol

So....im going to be adding a different spacer for the heat soak issues. I actually have to have a 1" spacer for the linkage to clear the intake anyways. Its kinda tricky...if its leas than 1" linkages dont clear....but if its more than 1" I run into to air cleaner / Hood clearence issues. I...
