    K20 vs. K30 Difference

Another thing to remember is that the k30 frame has the shock mounted inside the frame instead of outside.

What’s IT Worth? (Post all “what’s it worth threads here)

Going to swap my 85 k1500 to automatic. Anyone got a rough idea of what an 85 tilt standard column, 85-up hydraulic clutch pedals for hydroboost, with all hydraulics, 465/208 combo is worth? Also have the 6.2 flywheel and clutch setup. I believe the only thing missing is the bellhousing dust...

I just bought a John Deere tractor!

Good tractors. Don’t get in a hurry with it, as they are low power, but dependable. Its a great garden tractor

    New here from Mississippi

Well, I won’t ruin that for you, and will just say there was a LOT of human “error” involved. Girl I went to school with was one of the big organizers for the monument. It’s close (1/4-1/2 mile) from the actual crash site, but its a swampy area. Liberty is also known for Jerry Clower. Know...

    New here from Mississippi

Last year was the first time I had ever went to the monument. Know several that helped the night/morning after the crash. My sister still has tickets to the concert they were flying to Baton Rouge to perform.

    transfer case

Remember that a GM Dana 60 only uses 3 u-bolts to hold it to the springs. The inner side by the pumpkin should have two studs or bolts.

That one looks to be a Dana 44

What U-bolts are you guys buying?

If your post is in reference to mine about cost, the spring shop I use also had a contract with a major name lift company until that company started using imported u bolts because they were cheaper. They do all the bending, threading, and heat treating there. I’ve personally been using them...

Killer looking front and rear bumpers for my K20. Anyone seen these?

I’ve got an old Warn bumper with added guard on my 84. Been on there since the 80s Rebuilding my old Warn 8274 winch to go back on it. (There was only one bolt per side in the bumper when this photo was taken, so the bumper is pointing slighty downward)

What U-bolts are you guys buying?

Wow, my local shop is usually $5-8 a u-bolt with washers and nuts.

What U-bolts are you guys buying?

Have a local spring shop? If so, they can usually make whatever you need, and I have found that their u bolts usually cost less than 1/2 the price of buying them “prepackaged”

    049 Heads

The 454s of that era had flat top pistons and large (usually 119cc) open chamber heads. Compression really is just short of 8:1. We usually put closed chambered heads on these short blocks to bring the compression up.

    6.2 vacuum pod removal?

Doesn’t matter which way it faces. Should NOT have to pull the intake to remove. Once the hold down is loosened and out of the way, you should be able to twist and pull up on it just like a distributor.

1989 v3500 ambulance Cummins swap questions

Going to have to swap the crossmember under the engine. It can be done with no lift, and no body lift, it’s tight, but can be done. I’ve done a few Cummins swaps over the years, but got out of it 2-3 years ago. I believe I let my blueprints go with my last crossmember for squarebody 4x, and...

A little info about wrench sizes

Another thing to remember, if you know bolt size, you can figure wrench size, and vice versa, on non metric hardware. On standard hardware, it’s bolt size times 1.5 for wrench size ie: 1/2” bolt, times 1.5 (2/4 + 1/4 = 3/4” bolt head) Usually stud and hd nuts, it’s 1.5 x stud size plus 1/16...

    SM 465 pto cover plate

Just confirming this is what you need. I’ll try to blast them at work tomorrow if I have time, as they have been sitting on a shelf for a while. If these will work, send me your address, and I’ll get them heading your way I work just above Baton Rouge, if you work that way, I could just hand...

Two for One trade to get the GMC my father bought new in 1972!

Congratulations on getting it back in the family. Hang on to it. My grandfather bought this 65 new, but it has never left the family. Took my grandson for a ride in it a few months back making him 6 generations of my family so far to have ridden in it.

    USA-1 Seat Covers

Hate you are having issues with Skyjacker, as I’ve always had good luck with them. Luckily I am only 2.5 hrs from them, and also have family in Monroe. See if there is any way you can talk to Lonnie Jr or Cindy. They are the children of the founder and part owners. Not sure if Mr Lonnie (Sr)...

    Headlamp Adjusters

I just changed out all the adjusters on our church’s 92 GMC 3500 van (same as the 89-91 Blazer / Sunburban headlights). I could not find GM, so bought Auveco 10760 (10 pack for Chrysler) and used the plastic pieces from them. Removed the screws that came with them and used the GM screws, which...

305 SBC vs 6.2 Detroit: Which would you rather?

Whatever is in the best condition, the nicest truck, for the best deal that you can get is what I say the winner is. I have an 84 K1500 swb with a 6.2, with a Banks turbo, 3.42s and 33s, currently with an SM465 4sp, so no OD, and get 22-24mpg if I keep my foot out of it. Plan to do a 4L80...

Are these dual shocks factory. Pic inside. 1987 K10 long bed truck

If I remember right, GM cut the shock valving in half on the quad shock pair, so it would take longer to heat up the oil in them while off roading. My 84 came factory that way, but its hard to find aftermarket shocks that have the reduced valving (may not be the proper word) and putting 2...
