Made a simply yet elagant dent puller. Used an ancient chuck from a B&D 3/8 drill. It will get a workout tomorrow.
Mig weld small nails to the dent, chuck it up and slap the slide.
I would have checked the temp at the t stat w/ a hand held infrared gun B4 getting further. Also works for finding dead cylinder. Just point it at each down tube.
Simple repurpose.
Got around to a little detailing. All chrome door bits are badly pitted. In the process of dealing w/ that it needed new plastic behind the window cranks. Folgers coffee plastic tops for the N/C win.
Wrapping up a full rear brakes restoration.
New chews, all hardware, cylinders. Sand blasted the backing plates. Even hard faced & trued up the worn slide spots on the backing plates. Lubed all slides, pivots, adjuster.
Used to maintain a fleet of Subaru's. Got to the point of being able to replace boots almost blindfolded. Big prybars, hammers & jacks were all that was required. Lots of truck speedy boots available for quick fix. Ive found them to have short lives.
A talented wrapper can manage very intricate convolutes.
I’m not in that category, but managed to do pretty decent on the tight radius of trim. The center piece is a chrome wrap on copper fab.
FYI just pulled my old Gabriel adjustables from the rear. Just for clean up as long as I was doing brakes.
Bushings were toast. Gabriel does not offer replacement bushings, but Summit Racing has a great selection based on dimensions.
FYI on FF axles. If you intend to have a shop turn the drums you'll need to press out the wheel studs and the hub so the drum can be mounted in their lathe. Lucked out on my 11” drums. Still had enough to remain in spec.
Waiting on hardware & shoes from LMC.
If not a good circumference match to...
Pulled the full floating axles today to inspect the brakes. Less than 1/16” left on the riveted shoes. Fairly sure drums are original so a clean up cut might be enough.
Both wheel cylinders are leaking & everything is a sticky mess. All that is except for the black widow that was calling the...
