    Running Rich?

Connecting the torque converter lock up vacuum switch and less idling in the driveway brought mileage up to 9.3 mpg. This weekend I will change the plugs and try to adjust the timing (assuming I can get to the distributor lockdown nut)

Can't Get Driver's Inner Fender Back In

Thanks All! Going to attack this again this weekend and see what I can do. So does it go straight up, or should I start with the front or rear?

    Running Rich?

Thanks @SirRobyn0 . I have not progressed much except to connect the torque converter lock up vacuum switch but I haven't driven enough to see if this helps. My first measured MPG was 7.6, but that was with a lot of idling and short shake down trips around the block. Right now, since it...

Can't Get Driver's Inner Fender Back In

1984 K10 stock height. I got the passenger side in with a little finesse, but the driver's side has me stumped. I tried with and without the wheel on (but less with the wheel removed - I had had it by then). It seems to hang up on the steering gear box (replaced while the inner fender was...

HOW CAN I MAKE IT GO FASTER?

Might sound stupid, but make sure the gas pedal can go all the way to the floor. No bunched up carpet etc. And is the accelerator cable long enough?

    700R4 Vacuum Switch

Thanks, @AKguy Going to try to hook this up tonight - let's see if this boost my highway mileage a bit.

    Little tips and tricks

I've kept a jar of copper antisieze in my toolbox ever since I started working on airhead BMW's. Pretty much every fastener going in gets a dab.

    700R4 Vacuum Switch

I have a 1984 K10 with a crate 350 and 700R4. I believe the truck originally had a 305. Most of the emissions and vacuum lines have been clipped or removed. I have the vacuum switch on the firewall with two wires running to the transmission. I'm assuming that this is the vacuum switch which...

    Running Rich?

I think my truck is running rich. I'm just starting to track down this problem, so I don't have too many hard facts yet (or - I'm starting to think about fixing this now). Truck is an 84 K10 with a replacement 350 running a Quadrajet style carb. What I know: 1) Starts like a champ - quick...

    Removed my entire heater system?

https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/vintage-air-weekend-install.33722/post-682872 I did a Vintage Air install - lots of work but seems to be worth it.

What have you done to your square lately??

I spent this weekend taking one step forward and two steps back Diamondback cover was the wrong size so I have to get that replaced. Their mistake, not mine. I thought I was getting a great deal on a scratch and dent sale with no real damage but it was for an 8 foot bed, not 6.5 New dash pad...

What have you done to your square lately??

I had really stubborn rubber/felt window seals on a super beetle and I think used baby powder too

    What is this piece called?

Thanks for the quick response. LMC had that part at a weird orientation lol it's ordered anyway

    What is this piece called?

These hook onto the rear inner fender. I know that the ones that run lengthwise are called first shields. Does any one make repops? Thanks

    Vintage Air: Weekend Install?

I was basically done with this two weekends ago. I started the weekend after July 4 - so rough math, this took 3 months to do. I hit a few major, to me, road blocks: first, the crank bolt would not go in - this tied me up for weeks until I finally go the right sized chasing thread. Next, the...

Thermal Vacuum Switch Post Engine Swap

Thanks - I don't know where it was originally hooked up to. Vacuum lines on this thing seem to be randomly used or ignored. The engine swap seems good mechanically but the details were kind of ignored. I have to check to see what the original engine was - I just assumed it was a 350 but...

Thermal Vacuum Switch Post Engine Swap

The PO put in a "new" "crate" engine in my 1984 K10. It runs a little rich but starts and goes just fine. It is my understanding that the thermal vacuum switch can be disconnected with a SBC and an HEI distributor. Looking at this picture, it looks like the vacuum source for the distributor...

Switched Power for Electric Fan Relay

Thanks for the diagram - What EFI are you looking at? Right now I'm leaning towards Edelbrock Pro Flow 4 with a fuel sump. I think we are both taking different paths to the same place - my plan is to just reroute the ground trigger for the fan relays from the temp sensor to the proper EFI ECU...

Switched Power for Electric Fan Relay

I think I bought that same relay box. My plan is a little simpler: 2 fans each with their own relay with both triggered by either the trinary switch from the AC or the temp sensor i put in the water neck. Ultimately, I would like the fans individually controlled by a fuel injection system...

Switched Power for Electric Fan Relay

Vintage Air tech support got back to me and said using the wire going from their system to the trinary switch is OK - I just have to figure out if that wire only has power when the AC is on. I'll know this weekend hopefully when I finish the main connections and try to start the truck. [In...

Switched Power for Electric Fan Relay

This is power for the switching part of the relay which I think is pretty low draw. Fan power is from the battery.

Switched Power for Electric Fan Relay

Finishing up installing dual electric fans and hit a small snag with wiring the relay. The relay needs a switched Power source. I would like to find one in the engine bay rather than going through the firewall to the fuse block. I would call this the trigger or sensor wire. It is not the power...

    Gas Tank For LS Swap

I'm in a similar situation looking at going EFI - either Holley Sniper or Edelbrock Pro Flo - and I'm thinking seriously about getting Edelbrock's fuel sump. Basically existing mechanical pump at low pressure --> fuel sump --> throttle body at high pressure. No return lines either.
