I need to go check this other thread out. I’m not the oldest member here, but from my experience, Bucket’s critiques have typically been mild mannered and constructive in nature…and I’d made some really bone headed posts when I first started working on older American cars and posting here.

OK, maybe I can mediate this crap.

When I contacted ORD in 2020 and asked them about my K5 Blazer and what I would be looking at to install a cross over, (because it supposed to help with steering issues off road, where I drive)... from all the scary stories on the web...

The man I spoke with said: "What is your intended lift?"
I said 4".

He said: "You do NOT need cross over steering. I could sell you a $700 system with $700 in knuckles, and it would be wrong for me to do this."
"The stock GM steering system is more than adequate for your 1/2 ton Blazer, for as much as a 4" lift, simply using a steering arm with a drop. There is no reason to change the GM geometry, for the money it would cost, it would not improve anything. Buy new tires and springs and save your self the wasted expense of any steering modifications, other than a drop arm for the 4" lift. Have a good day." ... and he hung up.

So what MAY be happening to your thread, is years of professionals running into "new guys", trying to re-invent the wheel with bright ideas, on a scam of sorts, with web based programming to upgrade, "WHEN IT WAS NOT NECESSARY" or actually may be harmful to your truck or your budget. Look, if you feel better for building this mod, great. But flaming, cussing and threatening good guys regarding the sanity of wasting money on something explored by hundreds of others, only makes you look bad.

If you really stand for the statement in your SIG, regarding doing the right thing, even when "nobody is watching"... realize, "we are all watching" and your behavior is lacking. There's no reason to lose it because you had a bright idea and it turns out it might have been a bad design... The fact you tried is admirable...
Learning is sometimes fraught with hard lessons, and critical reviews.

Impressions 2:26...
Don't freak out. We have all hit the propeller once or twice... just be humble and stop cussing like a trucker at a bunch of good guys and try to imagine you might be wrong.

...Or not...

Who here has not been wrong?

Analysis starts at 2:02...

Pretty certain we are at or above 10 psi... 1.48 times the limit pressure...
Seriously, watch this video and imagine there's a bunch more here than you are realizing...

One more question while you tell me this is a single point of failure...how is this different? The ball screws into the tube, the heim screws in. The is a joint with a ball and a joint with a heim. The heim is 7/8 inches of stainless steel with a 3/4 inch grade 8 BOLT. The ball is a joint inside a housing. Both connect to the mid tube the exact same way. WTF is the difference you are trying so hard to tell me about that will make my truck into a rocket??
It isn't. Anything in your steering system like this is a single point of failure. I'm cautioning against experimental fabrication of a critical steering component, especially for something that is not an improvement in the original part you are replacing. If you notice, the factory components are not welded and have dual retention on all fasteners, there's a reason for that.

You are choosing to read aggressively into everyone's comments, even when they are an honest factual statement about the component and not a personal attack. Then you are personally attacking and cussing them out.

I dont hear any answers about the HEIM vs ball yet either ya big *****.
Sealed vs unsealed. Dual retention vs single retention. Heim isn't necessarily bad, but the way you are executing it is just not the right components. Also... is it actually stainless DOM tube you are using... why?

Cmon BN....give me some more of that intelect girl. Lets chat more. I need your wealth of knowledge and your opinions of what a safe place is.....

You want to chat about “intelect”? I’m your Huckleberry…..

Calling me out specifically huh….must be because I’m a woman and that hurt your ego more than the words of the men in this thread.

I never claimed to have a wealth of knowledge, especially not about cars. When my car breaks down, I take it to the mechanic and say CAR NO GO and hope they know what I mean, because that’s the extent of car knowledge that my tiny woman brain can handle.

I do, however, have 2 bachelors degrees and a masters degree, so I’m fairly certain I’m educated enough to understand the definition of the word “attack” and to apply that definition enough to know an attack when I see one, which I do not anywhere within this thread. It would appear that you do not have that knowledge, so I will provide a helpful resource, courtesy of the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

Attack
(At•tack)
attacked; attacking; attacks
Synonyms of attack
transitive verb
1
: to set upon or work against forcefully
attack an enemy fortification
2
: to assail with unfriendly or bitter words
a politician verbally attacked by critics
3
: to begin to affect or to act on injuriously
plants attacked by aphids
4
a
: to set to work on
attack a problem
b
: to begin to eat (food) eagerly
At the table he attacked his meal with such singleminded ferocity as to be, as Boswell put it, disgusting to those whose sensations were delicate.
—Donald R. DeGlopper
5
chess : to threaten (a piece) with immediate capture

I also am educated enough to use critical thinking skills draw a conclusion that, based on the obvious respect that Bucket and his knowledge of squares have on this forum, the number of posts he has made that date back many years that speak to his extensive experience with cars in general, that if he says something is unsafe or not a good idea, he’s probably right. It would appear that your ego keeps you from possessing those same critical thinking skills, and instead leads you to hasty conclusions, such as “hE’s AtTaCkInG mE”.

In conclusion, feel free to continue making an ass of yourself. I look forward to reading your response. However, it’s clear that no amount of sense will get through to you, so I will not be engaging further, and I would encourage other members of the forum to do the same. But I am glad that we have been able to give you the attention you so desperately crave.

As a final thought, I will leave you with a quote from the late, great Taylor Swift that you may want to consider internalizing:

“It’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me”

This is to all the guys that want to add their two cents. I am trying to do something new, by myself, with new products if possible. This is a complete 78 Scottsdale rebuild. Some things are standard old school and some i've upgraded. I don't need any more attacks, arguments, bad attitudes, or opinions that aren't decent and constructive. If you don't like me or flipping heim joints, keep moving on. If you have something to say about the part or the build...please do.

Alrighty then, there's been many posts here from others that said anything and everything I could have said, and there's no need for me to say anymore. So here's how this is going to play out:

ONE more act of name-calling towards another member and you are a gonner. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. I'm going to leave this thread here, just as it is, in all it's BS glory. Anyone who reads it will know who the attacker is and I've got nothing to hide. I'm also not responsible for the actions of other moderators, it's very likely that one of them may choose to ban you even without anymore name calling, due to what you have already posted.

Oh, I guess I do have something to say. Personally, I have nothing against you and I did not single you out. If we have had a run-in in the past like you hinted at, I do not remember it and it did not sway my opinion at all in the start of this thread. Just to make that clear.
