I have a 75 K-20 that needs a new bed. I found one in real good shape that I’m going to buy. The problem is that it’s for a duel tank truck. I have a single right side tank truck. I don’t wanna wire in a second tank so I was wondering if there may be a block off plate or patch I can weld in before paint to delete or close of the nozzle opening? I would like to have it like original. Thank you for any suggestions. I don’t wanna fill it with 3 pounds of bondo. Thanks.

I do not know if your bed has fuel doors or necks with exposed fuel caps. Personally I'd install both fuel doors just like I had both tanks or on 1 side use the outer most inch of a fuel filler tube and a dummy cap. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd bet there is no mass produce patch to eliminate the fuel filler hole, can it be done? Yes I'm afraid you'll have to fab your own patch and finish the area. My way less work and in the future a 2nd tank is still an option.

Leave the door. Make it a beer dispenser from a small kegerator

But, leave the door, no harm in it being a dummy door

Look at the tank you have. You need all that for the other side plus a selector valve and some fuel line,a little misc wire, tape, solder etc.. What else you will need depends on what selector valve you end up with.

I agree, adding a second tank is easier than deleting the opening from the side of the bed.

You never know who you're giving the idea to. Could be a partier that wants to have easy access. Or the car show guy with something unique.

I've done it. My truck was a single tank. You need a tank, sending unit, straps, carrier bracket, fuel neck, switching valve kit and rubber fuel line.

Really it sounds like a lot of work, but it's fairly easy and easier with the bed off. you'll double your range and cut gas station stops in half. If you drive the truck much at all I would want to do it.

If you are serious about adding a second tank I can get you part numbers and the suppliers I used.

Yes. That’s what I’m going to do. I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Ok, Filler neck. You could check LMC, but as far as I know used is the only option. I had a couple guys here willing to sell me their extras so you might run a request in the wanted section.

Fill hose and vapor hose from filler neck to tank, purchase universal bulk from your favorite auto parts store.

Pollak 42-308P Fuel Selector Valve Kit, kit includes valve, pigtail, cab switch and instructions, you'll need to buy wire and follow the instructions to wire it up.

You'll need a sending unit which will vary in part # depending on if it's going on the right or the left and if the truck has a return line.

I can't seem to login to spectra at the moment, but spectra is the company we have used for both sending units, tanks and straps. You'll need to decide if you want a 20 or 16 gallon tank, or if there is some reason a 20 won't fit. You'll need to decide. Spectra is sold by O'reilly's and other companies.

The carrier can be very hard to get and I can't give you a part number. If anything hangs you up that will be it. I think I still have a spare set and can see if I can find it in my barn this weekend if you want it I'll sell it to you for what I paid for it. So it looks like I paid $159 for the carrier and it included the straps. It's new not used. You'd need to pay the shipping in addition to the $159.

You'll need bolts to bolt the carrier into the frame. You'll need anti-squeak material to go between the tank and the carrier, I just cut somethin rubber matting I had hanging around to fit.

Hopefully that helps.

Thank you. I really appreciate. I’ll buy them from you. I am 16 and am pretty broke. Lol. I have a bunch a high body and bumpside parts I need to sell to raise money for this project. I’m also selling a 81 k-10. When I get the money I’ll be happy to buy them off you.
