What plans do you have for your trucks

My 305 is tired and wanted to die, so I bored out a TBI 350 and making a 383 for it. I cant wait, just waiting on the pistons to come in and then I can start assembling the block.

The majority of my “car budget” is going into my Nova this year so keeping it simple on truck.

This year:
- Get my cruise control working.
- Upgrade stereo and speakers.
- Upgrade headlights.
- Go to a lot of car shows and cruise nights.

Next year:
- Notch frame.
- Either new engine or Edelbrock power package on current engine.
- Hopefully other stuff...

Yes sir.
It is a Canadian built truck and it lived up there into the mid 90's when it came down to the PNW region before I found it.

The speedo measures in KPH with the inner being MPH.

I had an 88 Olds Delta 88 that I bought in the mid 90's and had until the late 2000's that had come from Canada.

I am envious of you guys who daily drive your square. Mine is 3/4 ton that used to belong to a logger and it is geared very low (can't remember if its 4.56 or possibly lower) all I know is at 55 MPH it is cranking the RPM's. It gets about 8 mpg's, so as much as I'd love to I can't afford to drive it all the time.

In the 4 years I've had it I've pulled the 305 and replaced with a Gen 4 454 4 bolt main with rv cam, intake and Lt hedders. Replaced th350 with another one. New brake system all around. New suspension. Then replaced th350 with new 700r4 and new driveshaft. New Trutrac 8.5 10 bolt 3.73 posi rear end. Been able to drive it around town for a while but wanted to get it mechanically sound before I worry about the looks of the truck. Almost there. Now I'm working on the headlights mess so I can drive it to work. I leave the house at 530 so it's dark and need lights to see. Lol also fixin to put new plugs and wires on it and eventually a new msd distributor. It's been slowly getting there and I can't wait to get to drive it more.

It's a trade off for sure. My 84' C20 305 - 700R4 - 3.41 rear gear end I get about 12MPG commuting to shop which is a mix of country road and city streets. On the highway I've touched 16MPG running unloaded, but 15MPG is more typical depending on how I drive and terrain. Which that's great. that means I get to drive the truck a lot as the mileage is similar to my Jeep.

But when I haul a big load or tow my trailer I long for 4.10 or 4.56 gears, as they would make that so much easier. But then I might not be able to daily it... But maybe I would, perhaps having overdrive would be enough to keep the empty mileage reasonable.

Regardless of my situation it's a trade off and those lower gears you have do bring a benefit in some scenarios.

I daily drove mine for about 6 months while my 93 Civic was down for a blown head gasket and I had other projects taking up the garage. 8600GVW K25 with 350/TH400/NP205 and 4.10's running on 35x12.5" tires. It definitely isn't winning any eco awards.

Hopefully I'll get a bit better fuel economy when I switch to the MPFI 454/4L80 and can get the revs down while being able to keep the AFR at peak efficiency. I use it for hunting/hauling/towing most of the time, so the reliability of the EFI with the added grunt of the Gen VI 454 should make it a much more enjoyable and useful hauler, even if I don't get any improvement in fuel economy. The 93 Civic gets about 30mpg, so that's nice

Full chassis with coilovers, big brakes, 5 or 6-speed manual, 408 stroker with more compression, full sound system, bucket seats, console and maybe bodywork and paint way on down the line.

I miss the economy of having an economy car, but I don't miss driving it....

The times I do drive my truck my wife always asks why I am driving it. I almost always have to put at least 20.00 in it no matter where I go.
