Started on the trim today while the wife’s car was in the garage, when I’m solo tomorrow, LMC tach gets started officially and then finishing up the rear bumper now that I have the brackets (that aren’t bent).
No offense but have you thought about taking a buffer to the paint before sticking the new trim on?

Apparently Kia's are so easy to steal, this fact has driven the normally peaceful, law-abiding citizens of St. Louis to CRIME! CRIME! in St. Louis! OMG!? Why? Must be those darn Kias!

St. Louis has actually tried to sue Kia Motors, Inc., for *causing* a crime wave in that shining city on a hill. However, the whole suit has been rendered moot because, last month, all major auto insurers dropped and refused coverage for any Kia in the StL.

Good for them. Insurance, not necessarily laws, is the quickest way to change behavior, at least among the 80% of the population who are not totally destitute and care about themselves.

Except for the part that you and I (if you inside any vehicles for comp coverage) are also paying for it.
Fckin Kia owners, lol. My kid always blames Priuses when traffic is screwed up and he’s usually right!
Now blame the Kia owners!

Max took the truck on Saturday to help Gramma move some stuff.
He did a preflight check on it just to make sure the fluids were good.
Before he shut the hood he started it and gave it a look see.

What he found was a pulsating fuel pump.
One of the bolts was completely out of it and the other was well on its way.

But the 454 just kept on a running.
Who knows how long it has been like that.

So before he went off on his way, he pulled a set of bolts off a spare engine and installed them good and tight.

Truck runs like a top.

Dropped in a4l80E. What is the easiest way to still use the stock column shift and safety neutral switch. Any ideas?

Nah, gonna give it a comet bath afterward and probably patina-shine it afterward.

Also because I installed a sniper efi and now the 4l80e Ihad a couple of controllers knocking around the floor I built a console with shift switches and cruse switches and something I always wanted cupholder

Well, failure is an option. I neglected to pay attention when I ordered the tach kit. There were kits listed on LMC for the 78-80 and 83-87. Mine is an ‘81 and went with the 83-87 not realizing it only has provisions in the backing plate for the electronic speedometer. Apparently 81-82 must be the weird years where they used the newer gauge font but cable actuated speedometer. So I don’t have a mounting point for the speedometer cable clip.

I had to get back on LMC and take a stab at ordering a backing plate for tachometer and gauges without clock but with the speedo cable clip mount. Oh well.

In the meantime, my dash just about cracked in half removing it, it was so dried out, even with great care.

Does anyone have ANY luck with the cheaper urethane pads out there? I need to slow down on hemorrhaging funds. I know there’s a great thread on dash refurbishing, but I dare say that mine is absolutely not worth it.

I'm still dialing in my cluster on the '84. If they don't let you return the parts and if I end up needing something I'll get it from you so you don't lose out.
I will let you know if it doesn’t work out with the other backing plate, and you’ll be first on my list. Thanks man!

In the absence of getting the tach done today, I got the rear bumper finished. New front bumper is on, guess what? Out of whack bracket there too. Tried bending it back, too stubborn, new bracket on the way. Was lightly bumped in the right front corner. But should look good when done.

Which transmission controller did you use?
I cannot see it well enough to tell.

1978 Scottsdale Refresh
Installed new Yukon Chromoly axles with new spicer heavy duty u-joints in my Dana 44. installed new flat top knuckles with new moog ball joints. Installed new spindles and then installed the freshly painted brake shields. Torqued everything to specs. Cleaned the 45 year old dirt and oil grime off the axle and pumpkin of the Dana 44. Received the new steering drag ling with new DOM tube and heim joints. Everything went to powder coating yesterday including the drag link and the sway bar.

Note: I cleaned my original brake calipers and went through the por-15 process for their brake caliper kit. What a huge disappointment. The red looks like my wifes red fingernail polish. Translucent and watery. I was so damn disappointed I could hurl. Now I have to figure out HTF to get this junk off. The Powder coat guy couldn't even touch them with his sand blaster. I don't recommend this junk....they did send me another batch but I am not going to attempt it.
Try a 1/4 impact driver with a wire wheel to get that POR off!

Makes me sick I have to do all that work but ya, good idea. This weekend I am going to get some paint stripper too. Soak that sucker.
