You are a man of great taste and I wish you luck in your quest to find a solid 6 panel 83-84 grille. They are quite difficult to find these days. A guy once offered me a 91 Suburban radiator support and grille to put on my '85 C10, I told him that I typically do that conversion the other way around like you're suggesting and he looked at me like I was crazy.

Gmc kept the deep grill through 76. Chevy went to the thinner one in 75.

Aftermarket companies are cranking out grilles for nearly every Chevy year and 85-87 GMC and grilles like there's no tomorrow, but still haven't made a correct 83-84 grille. Maybe one day we'll get lucky. Until then, I'll just keep piecing together junkyard grilles.

I feel most partial to my '84 and am currently rehabbing it back to life. Truth is, any flavor of GM truck grille is more appealing to me than a grille with one of them goats or a blue oval.

@1990Jimmy if I were you I would stay with what came on the Jimmy. Your truck looks superb just like it is. Like others have said, getting a 1984 GMC grill is next to impossible, if you do find one you will have a lot of work to do to get it looking decent. There are plenty of '87ish GMC grills available new but you cannot find the GMC letters for them. I had to re-use my individual G.M.C. letters when I replaced my '87 grill.
My favorite front clip was the 1977 GMC. My second favorite was the '83-'84 Chevrolet. However...In the immortal words of Stephen Sills: If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with. So my current love is the 1987 GMC.

I like the 89-91, personally. I'd never change my 90 burb. I did upgrade headlights to LMC housings and 9012 bulbs to improve the night vision.
I am also partial to the stacked headlights moreso than the round eyes. but none of them look bad.
I'd probably never swap a front clip on a square and just keep it as God intended.

I probably would have not changed if mine had Silverado front but have all the parts now for swap to 89-91 burb/blazer front grill.
