Shock mounts

I am installing new shocks on my truck and I am not sure how the mount works I guess. The bushing on the shock when I push it over the mount hangs over the threads. Do I just tighten it down and call it good or am I doing something wrong. This if for the top mount for the rear shocks. Thanks for any help

I have the new mount on the truck but I’m using the old mount for the picture because it’s easier but it’s the same.

Looks like theres plenty of room for the rubber bushing to collapse down before you bottom out on the steel sleeve in there. I say go for it.

FYI - Check your frame for cracks at the rear shock mounting holes

My new shocks came with the upper mounts already installed, just had to poke through the frame and tighten the nuts down.
