Good morning all. I have a '79 longbed c10. I'm getting ready to drop the tank to replace it. I'm curious if anybody knows a good source to buy OEM or like OEM anti squeak pads(?) for the tank? Or if anybody knows exactly what they used that I would be able to buy outside of GM packaging?

Looking at places like LMC, they have a kit available but just use small sections instead of them going around the tank completely. Which I'm sure is fine, but I'd like to go back like OEM if anybody happens to know what they use.

Thank you.

I actually had the original GM adhesive strips. They looked just like very thin sound deadening.

I ended up using rubber water main gasket material for my strips. A perk of my job, working in the water treatment plant, leftover trash is another mans treasure

Strips of rubber conveyor belt work as well.

I just grabbed an anti-squeak set from work (Auto Metal Direct) for a '69 Camaro and cut them to fit.

SM, what is the quality of the LMC stuff? Would you recommend it? I need some myself for my Scottsdale 4x4.

I also purchased it, it is light weight roofing felt. Nothing special. I knew it would work but didn't want to buy a whole roll just for this. It's a quick, thought out solution by LMC.

I also purchased it, it is light weight roofing felt. Even had a piece of the tape from it being a new roll. Your big box home improvement stores have it in the roofing aisle. Nothing special. When I have to do it again I'll cruise a construction site and get it out of a dumpster because they may use heavier felt.
I could go out and get a rubber bike innertube for that.....Thanks for the info 1S.

I went back and edited my response. All of us have a job or something we sell, either a product or our time. they took the time to solve the problem because this is something that isn't thought of until you need it.

I met the owner of LMC once at a car show, I walked up to the counter and she introduced herself and said, yeah, I own it. A petite mature woman, had a dress on with converse basket ball shoes and tattoos, nicest person you would ever want to meet, mid west values, sharp and and loves what they do. Not what I was expecting. We talked for 15-20 minutes.

Yes, it's just roofing felt but do you really want to buy a roll to make a dozen or so small pieces. I ordered theirs because it would take more than $15 of my time to locate and cut the pieces.Anything to keep the ball moving.

I used the thin bubble wrap on mine. Cut to fit.
