Interior Trim Guidance

I have a 1983 C20 Custom Deluxe which came basic with no interior molding, headliner, etc.

My question is how I go about installing these in a truck that never had them before. I would imagine there's some way to get everything lined up so it fits correctly.

All the videos and how-to's I can find all deal with replacing old mouldings with new.

Any guidance, links to videos, articles, whatever would be greatly appreciated.

I bought the headliner "Kit" from LMC, the kit includes a few pieces of fleece upholstered cardboard trim and some velcro to mount the headliner.

The included trim was ridiculous, it would probably work but was very cheesy. I ended up ordering all new factory type trim which cost more than the headliner kit itself.

If it was my project, I'd try a salvage yard first for the parts and hardware.

Lining it up will take some (quite a bit) of measuring. I would go to a couple of car meets, talk to a few people and see if they would let you measure where everything is. Take a bunch of pictures them mock it up in your truck. Use some blue painters tape to secure everything. Then when it is in the right place...zip your screws in.

i would get used from a donor truck that way you know they'll fit right . . tricky part is lining up where to drill your holes for the trim screws . shouldn't be as bad in your single cab but id get a buddy to help hold up the trim and headliner while you line it all up .

I recently did this exact job on a single cab that originally had no trim or headliner. I bought all the trim through LMC (good quality-Good fit)
After headliner was in place I one by one held and taped each trim piece in place while I drilled for trim screws (two different length screws for different pieces) careful to drill perpendicular to the trim face so the screw heads seat correctly, I did redo a couple of drill holes for that reason. Fairly easy..Good luck !
