I just saved a 1982 K5 Blazer from the crusher. Was a 6.2 Diesel but then someone put a 454 in there. The guy wanted only the motor and was going to crush it. The topper windows have been smashed out and the body is mostly gone. The guy used it as a trail rig. It has the transmission and transfer case but no driveshafts. It is the Silverado edition. The RPO sticker and owners manual were in the glove box. Anyway, I got the title and it is sitting in my yard and not being crushed and sent to China. My wife thinks I’m crazy. I now have 6 Squarebody trucks in my yard. Crazy women, she bought me three of those. Man I love that girl. How can I tell if it is the 700R4 that it came with? No torque converter, so I can see the shaft just fine. Looks like a 350 Turbo of 700R4 and the 208 case. I didn’t crawl under it to look real good. I’m kind of broken from the Army and todays pain SUCKS. Thanks guy for helping an old broken guy keep the faith on the Squares. I do love them dearly. Best truck ever made in my opinion.

I am one of those guys.
It is a good feeling to be able to help my sons buddies out when they need it.

I have 7 Chevy engines, 4 Chevy transmissions, 3 rear ends, and a few driveshafts in my collection currently for the vehicles. Plus a bunch of VW parts and a stack of different mufflers.

One day a buddy of Max's came by in his Honda and it was far to quiet.
I went into the back yard and pulled out a performance muffler made for his car.
It cost me $12 at the Pick N Pull.
I bought it just to have it as I knew if I wanted to sell it, I could make some money on it.

I gave it to him and told him to bring it by when he gets installed.
Me too. I have about the same for engines but a few transmissions and a ton of extra driveshafts. I own about 25 or 26 cars as we speak. A few Corvettes,Camaros and 1 Nova SS and a crap ton of trucks. Oh, and two Jeeps. Don’t judge I bought them for my son because that’s what he wanted and I spoil him. He’s my only boy. It truly is an addiction. About 5 years ago I was know throughout the Midwest as the Jeep Guy. I owned over 20 of the FSJ’s and all were 2 door Cherokee Chiefs. I sold them off when I literally thought I was going to be bed ridden for life due to my injuries in the Army. My Jeeps are all over the U.S. now. I had one one the largest collections of AMC 401’s. Those sold like hotcakes. The only FSJ I see now is the 79 Chief I sold my older brother. He comes over every week with it to tease me. I just show him my Square bodies and he huts up. He has a 76 K20 that just sits in storage. One day it will be mine. I love old American 4X4’s.

You'll have to crawl under it. Look at the pan. 700R4 pan will be Square. Th350 pan will be Square with a corner cut off, and a TH400 looks like Texas. That's the way I always remembered transmissions.

That describes them all pretty darn well!

Went back and got the hood, and power doors. Hood for me, and one of my buddies needed the doors.

@Mr Clean how much did the hood and doors cost ya?
90 bucks...going to get a hood stiffing kit. My buddy was happy as pigs in mud to get the doors. He gave me a 6 inch lift...(maybe 4 inch, he couldn't remember) he bought for his truck, than decided not to use it...

Got these today at the Junkyard along with some door parts for my suburban.
Anyone need a set of rotors or a set of calipers for a K5/K10/K15?

Not a big haul as I mainly went to find parts for my 1967 C20. I found some needed fasteners, outside mirror, very good dash pad that is even the correct color, and a few other minor parts. I also grabbed the two hubcaps that were on the lone '67-72 truck in the lot even though they were 1/2-ton (3/4-ton ones are near impossible to find). I did pull a couple of early squarebody hubcaps to use on it as they looked nice. Grabbed a couple of decent rollers for the truck as well.
For the 1973 I picked up a decent tailgate, fender support rod, jack holders, and an outside and rearview mirror for a friend that has a military 1-ton (CUCV). Tailgate is not correct as it has the later logo. But it was solid and cheap. The tailgate on the truck has to be pried open and it fights me every time.
The yard is in rural Iowa, about 50 minutes from me. They mainly specialize in squarebody parts and have quite a bit, even some good tin (kinda unusual in Iowa). They just got in 15+ trucks from a large hoard.

These didn't come from a salvage yard, but came from a garage sale. I was looking at them, ole boy said 10 bucks and you can have them, and everything in them...I said deal...

Over the Labor Day weekend our Pick N Pull's always have a 50% off everything from the yard sale.
It also happens to be right near Max's birthday and that is where he wants to go to celebrate it.

We found only two Squarebody trucks in the yard this time and managed to pull parts off both of them to take home.
This one is a 1973....

It gave up its hood to us as it was not kinked yet, close but not done.
I will order the stiffener kit to strengthen it before we use it.
Our truck does not really need a new hood, except when we put the fun air cleaner on the engine that needs to poke through the hood.
Total cost on the hood was $32.44 out the door and that includes the $4.99 core charge and $2.95 environmental fee.
I saved $24.49 on this one.

And this one is a 1980 that was crashed in the front drivers side.

This one gave up its passenger door as ours is rotted through at the bottom.
This one is nearly perfect and fully loaded.
It wasn't until I got home and put it away that I realized that it still had the window in it too.
So I rolled it up so as to not get water inside the interior....

From a newer BMW, they have the battery in the trunk.
So I have taken to pulling the what looks like 1/0 gauge wire and the other 4 gauge looking wire from them. These are both high strand wire and great to make all kinds of cables for projects of all kinds. There are 10 plus feet of each.
My giant pinky for reference...

This stuff is super flexible too.

A couple of plate frames came home.
These are all over the place and I pretty much only bring home the metal ones.
I have turned quite a tidy sum reselling these to collectors and people that want specific dealers for their hobby cars.

We peruse everything in the yard too.
I found this Bose in spare subwoofer box in a 2009 Nissan Rogue.
Also pulled was the amplifier and wiring pig tales.
I need to look the wiring up as this has many wires to it that make no sense.
If I get overly excited, I will simply wire it to an aftermarket amplifier to see how it does. Supposedly it is around 100 watts, enough to put out some decent bass fill.
