Won't some penetrating oil loosen it up? You would be surprised what can develop surface rust and how little it takes to gum up the works.
Tired that, although it's not froze up from rust. very clean and it actually moves a little (very easily)but like a piece inside broke and jammed it up.
New set of ching chong door locks was like $11 on Scamazon and will be there when I get home tonight.

A couple of packages were waiting on me when I got home. The 4-core rubbers fit like a glove. A better comparison on the thickness of the new core.

Considering how bad the expansion tank was packaged it survived the shipment surprising well. I wasn't expecting it to be polished tho. Just stated silver on the description. Even tho it was made in Chiner the craftmanship was spot on. Oh well, just something else to keep shined up.

I was remind of this over in the running board thread and thought I'd share if any of you think an idle kicker for the A/C is unneeded and your truck came with one. Mine was not on the truck when I bought it. I reasoned that we don't have that much hot weather in the PNW, but picked one up last year and never installed it. The A/C vent temps in my truck have always suffered especially at idle. I can't tell you how much a difference installing that kicker has made. Not only does the A/C cool down faster when I leave work in the city, but it stays cold. I use to have trouble with it warming up at idle or on a long down grade. Obviously it was just idling to low with the A/C running. I can't tell you how much I apricate properly functioning A/C during this heat wave that has had us in the upper 90's.

FYI those cylinders are pretty simple and come apart easy for rebuild, but ya at $11 I'd of done the same thing you did. Cheap and simple.

How they come apart?
I got the new ones today. Put them in tonight while the kid reassembled door panels but must’ve ____ed it up? Both locks sit right, key goes in vertical smooth side up but both only can remove the key when unlocked. Idk?

How they come apart?
I got the new ones today. Put them in tonight while the kid reassembled door panels but must’ve ____ed it up? Both locks sit right, key goes in vertical smooth side up but both only can remove the key when unlocked. Idk?
IF I remember correctly the inside edge with the lever thing. The part that turns when you turn the key. If memory serves there is a C-clip you pull that off and the lever part comes off and then if you just tap the end the tumbler will come out the front. But be careful if the little springs and cards in there go flying you'll never get it back together. If it won't come out with the lever off the back look for a small pin to depress.

If I had one in front of me I could give you better instructions, I probably haven't had one of those apart in 15+ years or so. I'm hardly a lock smith so IDK the names of all the parts inside, but at one point I could re-key simple locks like our door locks. Haven't do it in a long time though.

Again that's going off memory I cannot guarantee that I'm totally right on that, but they do come apart for sure. Good luck. I think they'd be worth degumming and fixing.

If you cannot get them apart try soaking them, like submerged in WD-40 or Diesel fuel overnight. If one of the little cards in the tumbler is stuck, either from thick grease or corrosion that will likely clear it up.

That's my kind of luck. 4 locks, 2 are jammed and 2 new ones won't function property, oh great.....
I'll probably end up with one good one of each key...lol

Doing some stuff here and there, and things like that. Rear-end and all new internals finally put back together. Runs on it's own gas tank too :cool:

I washed the crew cab. Like, actually scrubbed it, for the first time in who knows how long. I even scrubbed the roof and the bed liner. Normally I just hose it down. I noticed more rust creeping up on the driver's side. Paint is still super dull, lol. I parked it in the "garage" side of the barn so it will stay clean for the truck show this weekend.

While I was washing it, there were literally two different people that stopped in and asked if I'd sell it, lol.
