I’m finally upgrading my cooling system. This should have been done when I installed the blower back in ’07 but always seemed to put off doing it. The stock radiator did ok under normal driving in our summer months running 195-200. Throw in a cruise where standing burnouts are allowed & the temps come up fairly quick in the 210-220 area. Never has puked the water tho. Single 14” puller on rear left side & a 14” pusher on front right side of radiator. Not an efficient setup but it did work.
I ordered & just received a Griffin 70013 radiator with dual 16” fans & controller. 3” core with 1.25” tubes. Designed to fit our trucks with little if any mods...says them. Will see about that. Hoping to start the system flushing process tomorrow after yard work is done.

What was the thought behind the offset pusher/puller fan setup? Why not just run two pullers? Just curious is all.

Yeah, I know it don’t make sense. Guess the main reason is because they were 2 mismatched fans. The frames & mounting tabs wouldn’t allow for side by side mounting. So I just opted to put one in the front & turn one into a pusher. And I was throwing money into the new interior & shifter. I did at one time fashion a shroud from an old road closed sign & put on a 16” but didn’t do well. Needed more surface area coverage.

Again, this is a stock cooling system & wasn’t meant to cool something with an added heat pump sitting on top of it. Anyhow I have driven all this time, normally, without issues. This new unit will cool up to 1,000 hp so it will be more than adequate for my little engine. Needed something else to throw $$$ at anyways.

I got the system flushed. It was pretty clean too.

Made a relay setup for electric windows on the drivers side today. Will build another setup for passenger side and install next weekend or next rain break.

I had put a relay before the whole power window ckt and it didnt make a difference. So I put relays just before the motors like the LMC kit does.

A big difference in the size & still fits like it’s supposed to. Almost. The rubber mounts are a bit short to secure the tanks correctly. Ordered a set of 4 core rubbers & will be here Monday.
This is just a mock-up to check figment.

The lame overflow tank is getting replaced as well & on its way. Still have to wire the fans & put the valve back in the heater inlet line.

Well still no square progress yet but thanks to Ayden @AyWoSch Motors i now have 4 matching D windows on my truck and im pumped!!! This lil $400 junkyard save has got so many compliments lately its insane!! Yesterday a cute chick in a jacked up custom ranger was hangin out the window lookin back smilin at me throwin me the thumbs up!! Then not 2 minutes later the guy next to me at the light points to my truck and yells nice man, i like it! And tonight after i washed it a guy at the gas station gave me a compliment and started talkin to me about it lol. Who woulda thought!!!? Heres some of todays pics. Hey Perry @idahovette , does koop get this kinda attention in his s10?

Got my engine in today! Yaaay!!!! I'm so happy.
Got everything hooked up and finished and figured out, except a 3 little wores I have to figure out.
All I gotta do tomorrow is put some gas in it, a battery, and top off to coolant, and shes ready to run. So excited.
Not looking too shabby though..

Besides the obvious functional uses for running boards, I think they suit her image as a clean old work truck!

Finally got the FI on and torqued down. Discovered the center studs for the valve covers are wrong (and really cheap / bent) so going to get maybe some thread stock and make my own. Not sure what to do with the breather/baffle holes.....anyone here ever run a catch can on one of these? Thats what I want to use (have one I made) but undecided as to how to plumb it in. There's several ports on this setup that need plugged, plus I have to find whatever temp sensor fits in these heads before headers and their gaskets get snugged.

Also did a final mock up with the bracketry beforehand. Looks promising. Only issue that worries me is the AC compressor.....going with a Sanden retrofit. Should be ok.

Big weekend for the old girl. We did some tractor maintenance at the farm and she went to the county fair for the demo derby last night and the cattle show today.

Got a picture of her parked next to my father-in-law's 1983 GMC 2500. He uses it as a farm truck daily. Also got a shot of it by the old 806.

Did a quick repaint of the grill and headlight bezels just to spice it up a bit.
Only did the silver, to make everything match, didnt do the black.
@Powerhouse Ranch recognize the headlight bezels? Those are the ones you sent me. Was orgilally going to use them on my 85, but the ones on this truck were all broken from the last hailstorm, so I decided to use them on this.

Its runs!! First time since last year. Started right up, no prob.
Still sounds good, but it doesnt want to idle well, and is a little hesitant at low throttle, but smooths out at higher throttle. Isnt that snappy though, its ki da slow coming back down, I think my throttle return spring is a little weak.

And my clutch isnt working, depressed all the way down, it wont disengage. I think I have air in the slave cylinder from it sitting, and it's not pushing out all the way. So cant drive it until that's fixed.

And now the temp gauge, the volt gauge, and my tach aren't working

But its runs, and I'm happy. I'm over the hump.

I was running the EFI bug catcher when, for whatever reason, I took it off I was amazed at the amount of oily film that made it into the intake. I used a simple water separator for an air compressor. Took the guts out or the top & sealed the bottom petcock. Put in between the PCV & bottom of throttle body. Painted it black to blend in with the firewall. Does a great job of catching all the nasty stuff that used to go in. Now it’s hooked to the bottom of the carb plate. I just unscrew it to dump. Eventually I plan to run braided line but I’m frugal with some things...ie, cheap.

The caps are Billet Specialties. PCV in one & a washable filter in the other.
