its off the market, I told her what everyone hear said and it is going to be a project and not being parted out.
Yay! That truck deserves many more miles, and many more smiles.

There's already plenty of half disassembled trucks hidden in garages throughout the USA. Keep the whole ones whole!

I saw the thread when it was current and reached out to Hoagster, made an offer that I felt was fair and realistic based on the pictures.

First thing I want to say, Hoagster is a stand up, straight shooting, great guy. He would not accept any money for the lead or brokering and without him would have spent another day getting it loaded. He acted in the persons best interest which was a friend of the family. In today's busy world, that was refreshing.

He placed me in touch with the woman's son, verified the mileage after running a Carfax and we agreed on price, drew up an agreement and sent her a cashiers check. It took another 45 days before I could get it picked up which we did over the Memorial Day weekend.

Substantial changes in the economy made getting a transportation company to handle it not cost effective so my wife and I grabbed a trailer, drove 900 miles to near Redding Ca and brought it back. Trailer rental, fuel, 4 nights of hotels, food, etc was $2100.

The truck had a neat story with it, a friend of the family I purchased it from worked at the local Chevy dealer as a mechanic and purchased it new in '86, optioned it out the way he liked with top of the line at the time JVC stereo and speakers, custom hand painted pin stripes, wheels, etc and drove it for a number of years. Then the family I purchased it from had it for nearly the past 20 years, the past 12 or so in the field unused. The battery was dated May '03.

This truck has different values all across the nation, I am sure it's a $1500 truck where your at, unfortunately in Phoenix, there is nothing like this around and if it was would be over priced. Local Barrett Jackson and Mecum auctions fan the flames of prices for anything desirable and restorable. Phoenix is home to one of the largest C10 shows, "Dino's Get Down". The bottom line is I would have never been able to buy something like this here. I am sure the elephant in the room is "what did I pay for it?" Well, what I bought was a ZERO rust, 1987 fuel injected, short bed 4x4 two tone Silverado that was well maintained by somebody who knew what he was doing. No butchered wiring or carb and engine swaps, not a victim of too many "hold my beer and watch this!" stories. It should run again for less than a couple hundred dollars. The truth is, prior to the recent bump in the economy it was worth more but I think the price was fair and the numbers work to take it to the next level. I am appreciative of the opportunity, it's the right one. So I will leave this as I paid more than what everybody else here thought.:33:

Right now, it's just going into storage until I finish the two others I am currently working on, I figure about a year or so before I can get to it.

Thank you very much Hoagster!!

yikes, probably would have been more cost effective to cut across to Reno and go down the back side of the sierras through Las Vegas and Kingman.

I am not a big fan of 93, something about that road just makes me uneasy. People drive too fast, it switches to single lanes too often. This is the road from Kingman to Wickenberg.

I don't plan on doing this again any time soon.

Putting that Taco through its paces! Your Chevy is going to be a nice truck. The original paint color is one of my favorite combinations.

How much were you quoted for transport? I spent $2000 going from the mountains of Nevada to SW FL a few months ago.

interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever been on 93. The times I’ve done that drive I was going between Oregon and Prescott while I was going to school at ERAU, so I would just keep going on 40 until the cutoff down to Prescott at ash fork.

My in-laws just had the frame for their 67 C10 project on display at a C10 show in the Phoenix area back on April 9th. They’ve been working on it for the last 8 years or so, they finally got to bring it home to get started on dropping the body on right after the show.

Thanks, finding original 2 tone paint trucks is tough. It's the best one I had seen available in the past couple years that had not been already done.

Because it was an inoperable, before dealing with flat tires and such, $2500 in the weeks prior and I am sure would had been $2700 or more closer to Memorial Day. I had one brought back from Davis CA which is somewhat near there late last year for $800 that ran and drove. Freight is ridiculous anymore

I would have to run 93 to 60 to 303 to get on my side of Phoenix.

The amount of work it takes to get a vehicle to the level your family has done is incredible. You don't fully understand until you get into it. I am thinking I am hot stuff car builder because I powder coated my frame, suspension, core support and inner fenders along with some brackets, lol . This is a truck town

That don’t seem bad. I got a quote from here to FL for sons car recently for $1800. But now after my ongoing cluster trying to get a lawn mower from Nebraska to Washington, I wouldn’t believe the FL quote I got one bit.

Fckuking shippers are proving to be mostly glue sniffers in my recent experience….

Well... Considering it was $800 to move a car from Washington state to FL two years earlier and $900 to move a truck from Northern MI to FL. a year ago $2k would have been a deal breaker for me had I known. I was thinking $1k at the most.

Not a gem to be sure, and I bet the engine was not prepped for “storage” so emissions may be the least of the problems. Add mice and sun, so if you can get $2k better jump on it.

Is that a hoof print I see in the door? Lol!
