I like both but, Cooper a little better. I have Hankook white letters in mine. Been a good street tires. Gotta have white letters tho imo

That's the old school BFG tread pattern right? Where did you find those. Didn't think they have made those in several years...maybe half a dozen at this point. Whats the production date on those?

I was thinking other changed the tread pattern on the BFG all terrain to look like a more modern type tire on the edge of it. Maybe this is it and I forgot what the old one looked like. I remember the shoulders used to be pretty Sharp and squared off.

I was thinking other changed the tread pattern on the BFG all terrain to look like a more modern type tire on the edge of it. Maybe this is it and I forgot what the old one looked like. I remember the shoulders used to be pretty Sharp and squared off.
You are correct. BFG changed the edge of the sidewall a few years ago to add the "rock crawler" look to their classic all terrain. I prefer the older version but times do change.

I liked the older version as well. I guess I am already used to seeing the new one of I thought this was the old version?

I just got my new BFGs with the new sidewall edge. I liked the old design too but on the truck I prefer the new one.

Here is what I run. I have driven these many miles and they are an outstanding tire:

Me too. My first truck back in the 90's I had a set of BFG allterrian T/A's on it. When they wore out, I did not want to spend the money for another set so, I bought a set of the slightly less expensive grabber AT tires, now called ATX, and they were better than the BFGs in many ways. BFG's biggest failure in my opinion is poor traction on compact snow / ice and shorter life expectancy and high purchase cost. The ATX costs less, had a 50K treadlife warranty back when the BFG came with none, and grips nearly as well as a snow tire to compact snow and ice. I think if more BFG allterrian TA fans tried a set of General Grabber ATX there would be more ATX fans and fewer BFG fans.

Though no one asked about it I have a set of falken wildpeak at3 on my 96 Jeep GC. Reason being is it's an AWD, and a couple years ago I ran over a piece of metal in the road (no other choice other than to ditch it), and ruined the RR tire (they were Grabber ATX's). So I was not planning to buy 4 tires, and Wildpeaks were something like $80 a tire on sale vs $125 each for the grabber (that's going off memory but bottom line is the wildpeaks were cheaper and I needed that at the time). The Wildpeaks IMO are ok, I'll wear them until they are worn out, but then will go back to the ATX. They are a little better in heavy rain, as in they resist hydroplaning a little better than the BFG or ATX, the performance on compact snow and ice is a little worse than the ATX, but better than the BFG's. The Wildpeaks seem to be fine in light mud / loose soil.

Mmm... I'm going to pick the BF Goodrich. My very opinionated father always drilled it in to me that if you were going to run RWL tires, they just had to be Radial T/A's, and everything else looked stupid. Having had different performance tires in the past, I can't really say that Radial T/A's do anything better or worse than the others, but I do think they are the better option as far as aesthetics go... I had some Goodyear Eagles on my 4th gen Firechicken, and liked them too.

As far as all terrain tires, I have some All Terrain T/A KO 32's on my truck that have done extremely well over the years... and are almost old enough to vote (15th and 17th week of 2001). Now, the truck did spend 6 years being used as a summer driver only, then 5 years in storage... but it was my year 'round driver until 2008, and has been again since 2019. While I don't thrash on the vehicle, and it sees a fair amount of highway use, I do use it for plenty of non-mall crawling things... hauling firewood, trailers, driving logging roads, unmaintained utility roads and the occasional railroad right of way. I do some night photography and explore abandoned buildings and ghost towns, have driven abandoned highways that are overgrown with vegetation and other crap, off road in horse pastures and the desert- you get the idea. Some of the stuff I frequently encounter are broken glass, chunks of scrap metal, construction debris, sharp rocks, cactus. The tires have held up to all of this, they're wearing very evenly (I honestly can't remember how many miles I have on them), and they're quiet and behave very well on the highway up to and above legal speeds. They even hang on better than they should when cornering at speed. Only fault I can come up with is that the treads tend to clog when you run into that super silty mud here in Arizona. And they have a little less bite than some of the others when faced with packed snow and ice near or above the freezing point.

With those experiences, I'ma have a hard time *not* buying All Terrain T/A's for my next set... if only I could wear out Bush era set that I've got now. I'm still not really keen on the KO2's sidewall lugs, though... I prefer the squarer profile of the old KO's.

I like the BFGs too.I have a 40+ yo truck that has never worn out a set of tires.They stay on there so many years I just change them every so many years.Usually at 8 or many more years tho.The truck has just never been driven enough miles on a single set to actually wear them out.

I've run Cooper AT Discoverer on a 95 Jeep wrangler, an 83 K-5 and now on my wife's 06 Jeep Liberty. I'm a big fan! They are great in the snow- an issue where I live- and on the highway.
The K-5 wore 33 inch tires and looked damn good!

Then we got tractors with a shorter wheelbase and full hydro steering. We determined that to be unsafe. So now we just use it to move a Vermeer horizontal grinder around the lot when needed.

The A/Ts haven't changed much in the way of the looks in a LONG time, maybe minor tweaks but nothing majorly different to stand out that I've noticed and I've been running them on and off for about 20 years (or at least looking at them when considering my options, lately I've been going with the Generals because they're almost the exact same tire for less money but have had plenty of BFGs over the years). The M/Ts are the ones that have been making big changes over the years
