removing rear leaf packs eyebolts and U bolts without a torch

alright i need to replace my broken leaf pack with a good one that i finally found after looking for one for about 4 years. i could not find anyone parting a truck out or any way to get a leaf pack til a few months ago finally wow... anyways how am i gonna get these rusted frozen stuck eye bolts out and also the stock original 46 year old U bolts here in the road salt belt of IL without a torch. dont have bed on the truck, so i have room to do whatever,, i have 1/2" breaker bar and pipes, and good penetrating rust spray. and thats it.

hmm yah have an angle grinder but its only a 3.5" one the wheels only stick out past the flat steel hub about 1/4" and they grind down fast.. basically useless. need like a 6" or 8" wheel.. hmm.. i think im screwed. not sure how im ever gonna be able to replace this pack.

Yep. 4.5" cut-off wheel with the guard removed, or a sawzall with a GOOD blade. I've found the Diablo brand to be best. Don't bother with DeWalt, they are just about worthless.

Bucket is right, if you don't have a torch you will need a Sawzall and some good blades. The Diablo are good blades, I have had good luck with the Milwaukee Torch blades too. The problem you are going to have is at the front spring eye bolt. If you can get the bolt to move at all, the nut usually rounds off due to all the rust. You will probably have to cut through the spring eye bushings and the bolt to get them out. I am in southern IL, so I feel your pain.

Lol, Dewalt has got a lot of my money on battery tools. But I simply cannot endorse their garbage sawzall blades. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I too have heir batteries only for my heated coats. I have 3. O want to find a way to rig them to my gmas toro 20volt because toro is even worse than dewalt on batteries and they could allow us to use tue weeed wackier and the leaf blower for more than 20 minutes before charge time.

but I can’t find anyone that makes the adapter and if it’s not plug and play my grandma won’t allow it. Lol

oh i forgot i dont have an impact gun mine took a crap on me cant find another one... yet, hmm.. need to figure out what one is good and not a million dollars but will actually help me any with something like this? i hve no idea.. i do remmberone time i had rusted stuck wheel nuts removed on a 1967 C30 dump truck i had 20 years ago and it was a tinylittle blue point gun and damnm i wish i knew what it was exactly, at a local truck repair shop.. was insane... busted them loose like they were nothin wow..

lol replies abovee haha im amused im gonna maybe try soaking the piss out of these and beat on them for a few days and then go for a breaker bar(which i will probably break, and I have busted a 1/2" break bar before because 1/2" isnt all that much) and lots of pipe and see if it will even try to budge any of these dunnoo...

Make sure the first socket you use is a good one!

I use an angle grinder with a .045" thick wheel. Quicker than a sawzall.

The larger 1/2” and 3/4” battery impacts are pretty impressive these days if you already have dewalt/makita/milwaukee tools. Penetrating oil and heat cycles on the nuts will likely help.

I just had to cut through some frozen control arm bolts on my Tahoe. There is a new Diablo metal cutting blade with large teeth you would swear would only work for wood. Man was I wrong it cut through that 20 mm bolt head like hot knife on butter.
