Bad habit of always looking for cars and trucks to buy. Don't really need one but, this might be a good deal. I'd offer him 3k for it. It does have a v8 so that's a plus. I'd like some opinions on this car. I know you can't tell much about it but, maybe somebody else has had one and can tell me the pros and cons of it. Looks clean and everything seems to work. Has a draw on battery but, that can be fixed. Think it's worth a look?

Were the 3k handy, not needed elsewhere I would buy it. Or hold out and see if you can find a really red one, lol.

Money's there so that's not a problem. Just need to make sure everything works to get it inspected.

With just a brief look at those pics, the open headlight doors would be my first issue with it. I hate dealing with those things when they don't work properly.

Aren't they supposed to be open when they're on?

Yes. But, at least in my experience, when a seller lists a car online and doesn't show pics of them in the closed position, they are likely stuck open. I'm only going on the pics that were included in this post. So, they may in fact have provided additional pics that we didn't see.

I was thinking this too. There's not a pic with them closed. It's vacuum operated?

What exactly does 18,000 miles driven mean?
I got leery of that mileage when I saw they replaced the exhaust, then saw the motor was replaced too.

Plus it's a gen 3, the worst of all the gens.

I'd love to have a Firebird, but it would have to be a 76 or older.

If I were thinking about purchasing a car, which I'm not particularly fond of to begin with it would probably be a early "Thunder Chicken" or C3 Vette! If that one sits for sale for awhile you could probably get it for much cheaper than 3,000. The guy is trollin'! JMO :smoke2:

I do have a fondness for pop up headlights.
The early ones, think first gen camaro rs package and buick clamshells, were vacuum activated which is why one is generally half open.
All of the 80's-90's hideaway lights I've come across use electric motors, usually one for each light but sometimes one motor and a bar linking them together.

They will be electric in this generation. If they aren't working, it could be anything from a wiring issue, stripped nylon gears in the actuator assembly, or the motors themselves. Parts for those can range from $20-30 for individual gears to well over $100 for full assemblies including motors depending on where you source them.
