Hey folks,
Im doing my best to restore my 87 GMC V2500 4X4 Camper special. It has an aftermarket thin metal duct going from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner (Stove pipe) Does anyone know where I can find this part new or used?

Thx
Matt

Some of the originals were hard metal pipe with a flare on the upper end to fit on the air cleaner pipe and a tapered area on the bottom to fit into the shell around the manifold. However, I haven’t seen these as aftermarket.

LMC and other suppliers sell flexible metal pipe in two diameters and I assume one would be the right size. However, at the bottom you have a hole in the metal shell around the exhaust manifold and an open flexible pipe, so there is no way to directly connect them. I’ve been looking at various exhaust pipe adapters to see if one would slip into the shell and adapt it to the flexible pipe.

I’m trying to solve the same problem, but first need to replace the metal shell around the exhaust manifold. It looks like the small retainers that hold the shell on the exhaust manifold are actually a metal pin that was hammered into the exhaust manifold. There is no good angle to drill them out and replace them.

I think the foil type heat stove is OEM. I had the same truck back in 1989. The reason I believe this is correct is due to the fact the air cleaner for 1987 was change from previous year due to the TBI. The attachment point for the tube on the snorkel of your air cleaner is plastic. All previous years were metal. If you had a metal one like I have in my '85 it would probably melt your plastic or break it due to vibration.

Dorman makes several lengths and diameters. This ACDelco part number for an 1988-98 C1500, but may work for yours (2" x 18"). AC Delco 219-433. Looks like 1.5" is another available size.
