Started on getting the ring gear assembly out today. That bastard was not moving at all. Tried pry bars and still wasn't moving. So I went to go get something for lunch. Buddy that helped me last week texted me while in line for food. Asked how's it going? Told him what was going on with it. He said text me when you get back at it and I'll come show you a trick. OK great.

He comes over and says gimme a rag and you get a big screw driver. I put it in neutral and turned the driveshaft while he fed the rag in between the ring and pinion gears. It got tuff to turn (hence the big screwdriver) but, it forced the ring gear assembly out. Lol

Then pulled the pinion gear out. Found the third piece of broken gear then.

Need to get it cleaned out and ready for new rear end. Also need the replace my u joints while I'm at it.

Swapped out the factory springs for a set of some belltech 2” drop springs and a pair of their drop shocks too, finally got the stance to where I like it. Oh and went to see my buddy and take a ride in his blown 440 roadrunner. And bought a 67 c10 fleetside swb too. Solid Saturday all around

Had a dilemma today, washed the '80 and the piece of trim on the hood, top most edge along the cowl, has been fading and cracking and peeling and it's really just been an eye sore on the truck. My brother has been hounding me to take it off but i've refrained because i don't know what's underneath. So i finally caved and pulled it off today, only of course for my nightmares to come true. Minor paint came off and the adhesive for the trim stuck in a few spots. OH and when i say adhesive, i mean SUPER GLUE! Someone had a great idea "Well ****, let's put this on with super glue on a brand new paint job!" So i showed my body guy the damage and he flat out told me i'm boned. Now repainting the hood wouldn't match the fenders he said, my paint would be 99% impossible to match. Said i could repaint all the blue on the truck to match but i ain't doin that. Also suggested i just get a new trim piece, which i would've done in the first place if i could find them for 70s style Square hood! I CAN'T!

So any tips on how to safely get the glue off (I WILL NOT USE ERASER WHEEL) or if anyone could please track down the rare trim piece, please let me know (or have one and willing to sell)

I doubt solvents will eat super glue, but never tried I suppose.
I’d scrape it off carefully with a razor blade.

Got the ring gear on and bearing on pinion gear. Didn't know how far to press it on pinion gear. I measured old one to new and both measured 6.1" so I'm done with it tonight. Lol

Finally getting something done. Ordered 3 coils of SS fuel line (1/4, 5/16, 3/8) - as soon as that arrives I'll finish it. Got the new stainless brake lines into the frame and the crossover lines bent and in (my buddy had about 4ft of each size left). New tanks painted / Rhino-linered bottom halves and hung. As soon as I have the vent line run to the front, can put in the motor mounts. Its getting there....

I pulled that ugly trim off mine last year. Luckily it didn't have rust like that under there. I believe it was faded out...and maybe broken? I'm not sure. Does LMC not have it? I'll try to remember to find mine if I didn't tear it up and throw it away?

How far to press it on? All the way, my friend, all the way. If not, the truck will press it the rest of the way and you'll destroy the bearings.

No shims in that collection of parts? Have you measured pinion depth?
