I am a fan of rifles and the sound and smell a bullet makes, but when a laser gun shows up at the gun store—I’m all over it. I won’t get rid of my guns and bullets, I’ll enjoy them even more. I’ll shoot the laser gun as a daily because regular ammo is just too expensive. On the weekend though, I’ll pull out my rifle and send a few down range to blow off some steam.

Not trying to knock electric cars but...on my cars, the most reliable part is the gas engine itself with a majority of my problems related to electronic parts failing. So on an electric car, you replaced the most reliable part, the gas engine, with the least reliable parts???

I drove an EV1 a couple times when I was a teenager and thought it was neat. It was a development model and wasn't badged Saturn. It was badged McDonnell-Douglas, the neighbor was an engineer for them. Not sure what they had to do with the development but there were on occasion 2-3 at his house approximately a year before they came out as Saturns.

I get what you are saying, but my 2019 Silverado went back to the dealer for drivetrain related stuff more times than I’d like in one year of ownership. Our 2017 Honda Fit has been to the dealer for drivetrain related stuff a bit too. It just got all four injectors replaced and valves walnut blasted.

I only have two personal accounts of Tesla—my BIL and a friend. Combined they’ve put over 100,000 mi on and have only changed the tires.

Electric vehicles are over-rated and over-priced. Short-range and

Will go point by point here. As far is overrated, that’s subjective.

As far as overpriced they aren’t that expensive relative to my income and they are cheaper than some of my other vehicles.

As far as short range, the particular vehicle I’m getting has a longer range than all but one of my current vehicles.

As far as the length of time to recharge, it’s really not an issue. I’ll wake up to a fully charged vehicle and never need to stop for gas.

Finally, who said anything about getting rid of fossil fuel or that my reasons for this were even remotely environmentally related?

As far as your question about where the power to recharge my lame electric car is concerned, I am installing a solar array and battery power wall this summer. In the mean time, I have no issues with how my power company sources the electricity—as I said, I’m not buying a Tesla because I think I’m being environmentally friendly. I want a fast, quiet, comfortable and nice commuter.

You will wake up(4-6-8 hours?)to a fully charged vehicle. I'll fill the tank on my
truck in 5 min. and be back on the road while you wait(sleep) for
the sun to come out so you can charge your batteries with the solar array
that fossil fuel helped manufacture. BTW-the range on my square body is 600 mi.
How many charges does your EV need to travel that distance?

I am not pro or con on electric vehicles yet. I can give you a real world stat. Last month I went to Summit Bechtel Reserve scout camp for training. Fellow scout leader drove his company owned Tesla from Northern New Jersey to camp, about 525 miles. He said he stopped twice for 20 minute fast charges.

In my '06 Chevy pickup I arrived from Pennsylvania, about 440 miles, tank and a half of fuel.

I don't think it's "nerd" specifically, I just think the whole Tesla culture is generally a bunch of **********. Not everyone who gets one, obviously I understand they are cheap to operate and are supposed to last a long time so a lot of people buy them for that, but there's also a lot of technophile fist bumping going on and personally I thing the styling of all Tesla models is ******* hideous. When companies make normal looking EVs with real door handles that don't look like they have a flat screen TV bolted to the dash of their weird plain interior I won't be so disgusted by them, but until then I am not a fan. I understand the basic needs for a lot of commuters an EV would be very practical, but for me many many many things do not line up. Also I could never get over driving a silent car that I could not refuel quickly. I would also be nervous sitting atop a huge battery. I don't care much for modern electronics in vehicles, so to have one that is literally nothing but that would probably induce a panic attack every time I looked at it.

Also, I guarantee I've both ridden in and operated vehicles faster than a Tesla. Yes they're very very quick, but not like unimaginably fast. Every person who buys one always brags about how fast they are, but why is it that I've literally never seen a tesla driving fast on the road in real life? I typically get stuck behind them going 67 in a 70 zone...

That is super cool though that bitcoin worked out so well for you though. I had some bitcoin back in the day when it wasn't worth much at all but I spent it all on internet drugs lol. Probably should've kept some I'd be rich now too.

You probably get stuck behind me. I go exactly the speed limit most of the time.

The model 3 performance does 0-60 in 3.1. The list of normal street cars in that league is pretty short. The c8 vette, 911 turbo s...then you get into Ferrari/Mclaren territory after that. I’ll have to find the website of current 0-60 production car times I was reading earlier. There’s not many cars under $200k that go faster than 3 seconds.

I've got 3 that are not nearly that fast but they are a hell of a lot of to drive. I firmly believe there is not much better than a BBC 4speed car or truck WOT, shifting gears at will!!!!!!.......I don't have to care about commuting or any of that anymore AND this is just My opinion

That 502 has yet to move under its own power...Least last time you mentioned it and its cooling/fan issues. I thought we were going to line the back of it and float it down the river with a cooler full of beer?
