UGH....finally removed my steering arm. I built this truck from the parts bin and the previous owner of the chassis installed a lifted steering arm. My drag link was at a extreme angle. Trying to find one for a stock height truck is a bitch. Every one offered is for lifted/lowered. The PO reused the conical washers, and was a bad idea. They came out hard. Found a local with one to trade, and another 100 miles South of here. WTH, am I the only guy that leaves his truck height stock? LOL

That was some work to get that off! I didn't have the tools to remove mine, so she's still attached and checked with the torque wrench. I didn't bug it at all.

Didn’t get to it yesterday but I was able to pull the 350 / th400 / driveshaft after finishing up at the shop today. Did a quick pressure wash to get all the big chunks of **** off, reckon it’ll need some dollar store oven cleaner tho.

a buddy at the shop keeps pressuring me to forget about LS swapping the 73 C20, and instead, use the 5.3/4l60e as the power plant for the factory shortbed 67 fleetside he’s trying to sell me.

I drove it to drop off the axle for my Suburban to be rebuilt.
On the way home we took the backroads.

I pressed the long pedal all the way down and only let up to shift the SM465.
It made the angles sing as well as made plenty of smoke until it hooked and took off running down the road.

I do love how much better the big block breathes through the headers we put on it.
It has much more umph when it is time than it did with the stock manifolds.

Had that thought too. No reason I couldn’t do both. Almost positive we’re buying a 67 now too, sooo, gonna have to make a decision soon

The air cleaner is done, harmonic balancer torqued down. Valve covers aint pretty (some minor dents), but it doesn't matter because the pair of 1955 Olds Rocket ones will be going on at another time...

Did my dual feed mod to the 4L80e direct drum in my th400 im building. Set the clutch clearance in the direct drum.

the parts store finally produced a 34 element sprauge direct drum that'll accept 6 clutches with a piston mod.
after dual feeding it, i Still need to checkout my B&M shift kit seperator plate and see if it blocks off the rev circuit, or if i need to plug it off with a set screw. (So 3rd doesnt backfeed into rev at the same time)

1st gear drum done.
I, like a *******, didnt buy the 2 bands for the 400 when i was at the parts store NEITHER did i order a vacuum modulator or a boost valve.... idiot...

Picked up bands, and ordered vacuum can and boost valve....

Built my assembly up to the intermedient set (2nd), im upgrading from the 3 clutch 2nd to a 4 clutch 2nd, so this will take modifying the top apply plate a tad, thinking i'll just turn the lip off of it, then grind it on the surface grinder to get .000" clutch clearance (i have like, -.115 now), then i'll keep grinding/milling the top apply plate until i get the clearance i want.

For this app, i'll be setting clutch drum clearances at .040-.050.

Once ive finished the 4 clutch mod and the dual feed stuff, can toss the rest ot the assembly in, and from there setup my pump.

I plan to block off the 1-2 accumulator also so i can have nice barking 1-2 punches at WOT, and EZ shifts at light throttle.

We'll see how it goes.....

Im closer, but im feeling under the weather, so i didnt do much of anything today.......
