I have a small, maybe 18g, black/white wire that is about 6 feet long that comes out from the bottom of the fuse block under the dash. I think it may be the seatbelt buzzer wire but unsure of how to test it.
I've read that if it is grounded (seatbelt is being worn) when you turn the key forward it will not buzz but that it will buzz for a few seconds if it is not.

Does the above wire color/location and buzzer info sound right?

If so, how can I tell the difference between the key in buzzer and seatbelt buzzer? Does the key in buzzer only buzz when key is in the ignition and not turned forward?

THANKS!!!

That is the correct wire, yes. I can't say about proper operation, I don't think I've ever had one that consistently worked. As far as GM cars of the 80's, the seatbelt chime (not buzzer) was the same chime used for lights-on and key-in-ignition.

Perfect, thank you!!!

The light on buzz does not work so I fabricated a replacement that will be more reliable. The key in buzz is, as with most, random depending on how you hold the key. I'm sure it's just worn ignition; which will be getting replaced soon.

Maybe I'll just trace the wire and cut it as close to the terminated end as possible.
