My old Nova didn't have a choke on it, nor does my VW with dual carbs.
They just required a bit more warm up time or just taking it easy for a bit to make sure things are ready to go before mashing the pedal.

The crossover doesn't have much to do with the choke, you'll get fuel condensing on the bottom of the intake until you get enough oil splashing up to warm it up... it can take quite a while and if you are too rich on top of that it can be an issue. Like I said, you'll probably be fine in our moderate climate.

Hahahhaaa.
The engine rebuild receipt shows "RV Cam"
So whatever that means.
I am sure it is just a step up from the stock cam.
Probably in the very low 200's for the duration....

Heck, if you already have the heads off and already doing other things, might as well slap in a Summit Cam/lifters... K1301 is only $146 and is about as big as you would want to go on a street motor with those heads. The L29 runs out of flow above about .500" lift and that's right where that cam ends up. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-k1301

I attempted to install my new extended braided brake lines in front today. No go!
The block on the end of the hose (at the caliper through which the banjo bolts goes) is about 1/8” thicker than stock. Stock bolts only gets about 3 threads into the caliper and it leaks. Ordered longer bolts and threw the ole hose back on so I can drive till then!

My tuner came up to work to start dialing her in. Come to find out, the trans is unhappy and she won’t come out of 2nd gear [emoji22] Gotta figure that out now

Zach, it sure appears to be an electrical concern to me. I would ring out all wiring going to the transmission connector. Didn't you just have a fuel pump wiring concern as well?

I agree. I’m leaning toward either the internal wiring or stuck solenoids or a combination. I don’t know how long this trans sat before I got it. We confirmed we have 12v going into the trans as we should on both the main power and command terminals. But I’m going to drop the x-pipe, double check that wiring on the harness and then drop the pan and see what the wiring inside looks like. Gotta find a clean bucket.

The fuel pump turned out to be the sock insert coming apart. I also had some iffy grounds but I don’t think that was the main culprit. The sock that came with my Spectra sending unit had a little plastic insert in it, kinda like the tables that used to be in pizza boxes, to keep the sock from collapsing in on itself. When I went to put the fresh pump in this time, I saw that insert wasn’t centered. After I centered it, I shook it upside down (still don’t know why, was a totally unconscious action) and little pieces came out. I think that’s what was killing the pumps or making them work sporadically. So I grabbed a sending unit at work and stole the sock from it, ours don’t have the plastic insert

When there's an electrical problem, the trans will default to 2nd gear. The electronically controlled GM front wheel drive transmissions of the 90's and 00's are the same way.

Looked at the 79 yesterday.

Has a little cancer at the A pillars on the floor, bed floor, drivers rocker, and thats about it. Its been repainted, no bondo.

Im gonna get it today. I like it.

Straight 6 and 3 on the tree. 10 rear. I think 3.08 axle ratio.
All original tho
