new to chevy 1986 break calipers question

I'm trying to replace the calipers on the truck has a b55 code. The part numbers on the calipers are K78007152GM & K78007153GM. I can't find anything on the internet or parts store.

I work as a mechanic I maybe able to sort this out for you.

Those part numbers you gave don't cross to anything in my reference material. If I look it up by application the system asks me if you have 2 1/2" rear shoes or 3" rear shoes. Let me know and I should be able to get you an aftermarket part number.

I worked as a brake development engineer on these trucks, so I may be able to sort this out for you as well.

I'm not finding those numbers, either.

A little more detail would be helpful, like model (ie, C10, C20, C30, K10, K20 or K30) and GVW if you have it. Gas engine? Diesel?

The actual code you refer to is "J55" which is the "merchandised RPO" for the "Brake - Heavy Duty" system (ie, the customer would choose this). The "non-merchandised RPO" would be JB5, or JB6, JB7, or JB8, and is chosen by the engineering release charts.



Those are the codes we are trying to get at.

X2 Keith is correct! I'm an old retired Chevy partsman,if you wanted brake parts I wanted "J" codes.

MPTCAGE: Welcome and thanks for the question. Your header indicates you have an 86 1500 so am assuming you have an 85 Chevrolet 1/2-ton pickup, C-10 (2-wheel drive) or K-10 (4-wheel drive.) The 1500 designation is used with GMC only during the Wide-Body years. In most cases the parts will be the same, but this may help you in parts identification and problem solving in the future. Simply put, shoot as as much detail about your truck as you can. Make, Model, year, engine (you indicate 355, so we assume it's a 350 GM small block, gas engine,) 2 or 4-wheel drive and any other pertinent information you feel is necessary. As already mentioned, brake codes would begin with the letter "J," but I think we can better process the information I (and others) have asked for as with a 35-year-old vehicle, what was installed at the factory may have been changed or modified making factory installed codes useless. Hope that helps.
