I want to see some lowered 3/4 tons

I am considering lowering my stock 78 C20 but havent seen many good looking lowered 3/4 tons to take inspiration from. I'm hoping I can get a few ideas on here in terms of what wheels and tires look good.

@Old77 had a lowered 3/4 Suburban.

@bluex may have some pictures of lowered 8-luggers too.

I mean... it looks exactly like a 1/2 ton long bed, just with 8 lug wheels :rotflmao:. Unless yours is a dually... or a crew cab I guess :shrug:.

I'm gonna pull a page from @Rusty Nail 's book and say that we definitely need pics of what you're working with.

Actually we haven't done any 3/4s yet. I had a dually for a bit but not long enough to get it lowered...

Lowering a 1/2 ton would probably be cheaper and easier. And you'd have more choice for wheels/ other stuff that would affect stance. And you wouldn't be taking a hard working truck out of service

Lowering a 1/2 ton is cheaper for sure.

They can still work just as hard lowered as they can stock they just look better doing it.....

I know it looks like a half ton, but the 8 lugs make things a bit more difficult. I want to lower it somehow and give it a hot rod look. Right now its bone stock with 16.5s.

that's all subjective to one's own personal taste.
I understand the allure of lowered vehicles for their sporty or "hot rod" look, but they hardly look nearly as heavy-duty. Perfect for a 2wd 1/2 ton shortbed with a big engine to do the whole muscle truck thing, but a lowered truck trying to do honest hard work towing a 10k lb trailer just plain looks silly AF.

Looks like a nice truck. Here's an Idea buy a 1/2 ton, way more common and cheaper too build. Sell the 3/4 ton to someone that needs and will pay for a 3/4 ton. I'd sure pay more for a 3/4 ton.

And while I was writing that, you guys started a debate about lowered trucks.Ive had lowered trucks, I've had lowered cars you take too much suspension travel out when you lower them, to make them play in the same arena as a stock height truck when your doing real work,carrying heavy loads, pulling big trailers.I do like the look but hate bouncing on the bump stops all the way home.

He is not talking about dumping the 3/4 ton, he wants a modest drop.
Similar to what I am going to do to my truck that is a 3/4 ton Camper Special.

I am going to first start with shorter overall tires.
Going from a 235/85/16 that is just over 31 inches tall to a 235/70/16 that is just 29 inches tall.

Now we are effectively 1 inch lower.

For the suspension there is a simple 2/3 inch drop for the heavy trucks.
This leaves all the capacity to haul all the weight or pull all the trailers.

Overall the look will be 3/4 inches lower.
No capacity issues and all the suspension travel.
Plus it will be easy to revert to stock if that is what I feel I want later on.

I never claimed to dislike lowered trucks, I even specifically said I can see the allure of a lowered truck to do the whole muscle truck thing. I just don't see the point in lowering a 3/4 ton truck, defeats the entire purpose.

My point posting in this thread was to make that exact statement.

Creating this thread looking for ideas was specifically asking for opinions. You keep on rolling if you have a problem with my personal opinion, I sure as hell didn't ask you for input. Nor was I putting anyone down. I was just stating a (very common) opinion, one that could potentially save the OP some money (and a little bit of ridicule IRL. On this forum we all love squares, but out there in the wild people are gonna say "a lowered 3/4 ton, WTF is the point of that?")
