Kinda timely for this thread I guess...
Brand new interstate in one of my newer vehicles, no accessories left on, just haven’t started it in a few months. Deader than a door nail. Hmm. Wanted to move it tonight. Absolutely zero juice. Keyless entry wouldn’t respond at all. Not even a dim dash light...nada.

Look's like a parasitic draw from some of your onboard electronics drew down your battery. Newer rigs you really need to start up and run atleast once a week.

2020 took another young one too soon

I am bringing 10 batteries, mostly large ones, in the trunk of my park avenue(boy is she SQUATTING) and i am going to be getting a new battery tomorrow morning ive been trying to decide if i want to get cheapest that will fit or best deal based on 100$ off. NAPA can get me east penn, Oreillies can get me johnson, and Autozone can get me johnson. Advanced auto, however, can get me interstatewhich is made by johnson but people have good luck and good ratings with them and high reliability. Auto value has FVP batteries but they dont have a gift card program like advanced, autozone, or oreillies. NAPA may have one? as of now, going to go see if advanced auto has interstate in the size i need.

I used to work at a store that supplies east penn. they are decent. I almost never use johnson batteries, i dont use walmart or the parts stores often to get them. AC delco meanrds batteries are supposedly Johnson but they have really nice cases.. handles always break though.
what batteries did we see most? store brand for warranty. AFTER THAT? duralast and die hard cheapos. exide. napa cheapos. red motorcraft blue AC Delco. interstates frequent only because they are sold many places, but often excessive agee like 8 years. as far as plastics quality, cracked cases was an issue with johnson cheapos real bad
I would go with the Interstate battery with the highest cranking amps you can get. Interstate is a long lasting battery. I try to stay away from auto parts store batteries because they don't last.

the only Deka on shelves around me are parts stores who are in towns of 3 people and a cow. they are on the shelf for MONTHS before used
Yup, you want to get the freshest battery you can get. That's why I like Interstate batteries. They rotate their inventory regularly.

Maybe Elon Musk's battery plant should start making conventional car batteries. They'd probably weigh half as much and last twice as long as what's currently available.

Max works for a parts store now and they sell Interstate batteries.
I just bought a 1000ca battery and put it in our Sub.
Man that is a nice feeling to have a good battery again.

On the other hand I have two Optimas that are 11 and 9 years old that still do their job.
They were new when I put them into the sub or truck and when the battery cranked slower than it should, they were transferred to the smaller engined cars where the crank over just fine.

Currently the Optima's work like champs for my VW bug and '54 Bel Air.
But I won't be buying one of their new ones.

Oh isn't that the truth. It's like when I finally toss that well used condom in the trash and then break out a new one. Ahh..
