G80 vs G86

I talked to my uncle, who is a seasoned retired mechanic, about this issue and he says he's seen so many G80s grenade. He thinks they're junk. Sure, some have lasted a long time, but he's seen too many blow up to have a positive opinion of the G80.

Exactly. If you have personally witnessed oodles of them that have literally exploded, it's really hard to believe that they are reliable.

thats because those G80 are the gov lok garbage units. you are confusing the good lockers with the junk gov loks.. totally diferent animals.. the actual lockers like in the dana and 10.5 axles are good.. and the gov loks are not.

if it is factory and its a 10 or 12 bolt and it has a governor in it then its a grenade lok.. run away fast.. after 1973 they are grenade loks. in the 10 and 12 bolts anyways.


the locking diff in the 1973 10.5 axle is awesome strong good, nothing to wory about at all here,. worry about something else.
