hi I am building a 1986 k3500 crew with a carbed engine and I have a 1991 suburban parts vehicle with a TBI engine. The wiring harness is in immaculate shape and was hoping to use the complete harness in my crew. Can anyone help me with instructions of which wires can be removed from the engine and cab/computer harness. Thanks in advance if you are able too

It is separated enough in the harness that you can mostly just remove all wires that go to the computer and it should be carb ready

Curtis 306 - did you complete this conversion?
Did you find it simple to separate the OBD-1 and TBI elements of the harness?
I am considering something similar in my 1990 V20 Suburban (deleting the TBI and installing a carb)
Would love to know what you ended up doing?

Cheers.

carb motor just has coolant temp and BATT wire for the HEi coil and oil pressure switch and alternator wires. prety simple basic an the TBI harness has totally different wiring for ignition and coil and all that,, theres next to nothing that shares or is same as HEI/carb the carb HEI harness is so stripped down basic that it cold definitely and easily just be repaired and reused. and the HE is really just a standalone lage guage BATT wire which is just an igniton switch controled 12v full power wire for the coil and thats it for the ignition system wiring as far as the engine harness part of it goes.. its just so super basic stripped down simple easy... and the alternator is only three wires.. also so really super simple basic easy,,, the smaller TBI era alternators are different from the larger/case common carb HEI-era ones..
