Hah no way! That thing is an awesome yard truck. Got a little Meyer 6' plow on it and everything (which doubles as a bulldozer once in a while). The body is in rough rough shape and top is in tatters, as is the transmission, and gas tank, and steering box, and just about everything. But she runs and drives and only has 80 or 90k on it IIRC. Got it for free off the widow of the guy who owned it since it was less than 2 years old (friend of my grandfather). Old Polish dude nicknamed "Smiley". This thing is as rigged as one can possibly imagine, there's twine holding stuff together under the hood and ****, and to compensate for the weight of the plow there's a wooden box bolted to the floor in back full of lead bricks. Hey, gives it some character at least.

Fixing that thing up is next on my list after the Suburban gets restored and I swap the driveline out of my wrecked 280zx into the new body I bought for it. I'm not gonna full on restore the jeep like the Suburban, but I'd like to at least make it street legal and put some 31s or something on it. I've been half-assed looking for a wrecked XJ to take the 4.0L and 5spd out of

Spoke to my dad today. Naturally, he threw away the paperwork he got when he picked it up. But he called the auctioneer, and was able to get a new bill of sale on the way. So, fingers crossed I can get it titled. Planning to bring it home December 1st and actually see what I have. Been doing some digging, and this model of Jeep may have a Dana 44, 31 spline rear axle. If that’s the case, supposedly it’s worth way more than what I paid for the whole Jeep. Searching now for a good Jeep forum to join to get some more information. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m all ears.

I finally got to mess with this thing today. I ended up leaving it at my dad’s house, at least until it’s running and driving. The title situation is still up in the air as well. There’s more rust in the body than I thought originally, but it’s still fairly straight at least. You can’t tell in the picture, but the grill was bent, and pushed back towards the firewall to the point where the hood wouldn’t latch. We pulled that out, got the grill braces reattached, and got everything lined up so the hood will close and latch properly. We also got the one headlight back in, so he’s not a popeye anymore.

Then we started on the engine. We vacuumed all the crap off of it, cleaned the carb, and bolted it back down. Went to check the ignition stuff, and found all new cap, condenser, points, coil, and plug wires. Awesome. The wiring harness seems to be there too, I didn’t notice anything that looked like it had been chewed up. We didn’t try to start it today, but we did verify that the engine isn’t locked up, so that’s good news. We also cleaned the crap out of the tub. That’s about as far as we got today, but next time I hope to fire it up. It’s a giant turd, and I love it lol.

The lockout hubs and the transfer case seem to work as they should. The only thing giving me trouble so far, is I can’t get the transmission to go into any gear. The shifter moves around freely in neutral, but it just won’t engage anywhere. The tires are also way too big, they rub on the frame and leaf springs up front. So if anyone around NC has some old dry rotted 30/9.50/15’s, I’ll trade you my old dry rotted 33’s lol.

Next course of action will be to find a fuel tank, radiator, and battery and either get it started or burn it down trying.
