I'll have to educate myself on the trans. I don't know the difference. Just know it's a 5spd.

It's an early variation of the nv3500. Might have been called an hm291 maybe? I don't remember now.

My plan was to drop in a basic TBI 350, in place of the 4.3 so the trans had a chance to survive. I really liked the trans. But by the time the 4.3 blew up, the truck had significant rust on every single panel (except the bed, I had replaced it a 2nd time) so I gave up and let it go.

The T5 was used in the 2.5 and 2.8 trucks.

I myself am a little unclear on that. I was once gonna swap my s10's trans for a 5 speed. I found a wrecked one that had a nv3500 in it. (At least i think its that, you have me guessing now), but ive also seen other trucks (namely later 80s, early 90s), that had a t5 (clearly casted on the side)

Dropped the tank today and found the reason for the no start. Also buying a new tank.

While I was under it today, I noticed that the slave cylinder lines were on the drivers side and looked to be an internal slave.

Man, I had a 91 s10 that looked exactly like yours. Except it has a 4 banger with a 5 speed in it my dad bought me new for graduation. Same color and all nut, ill have to see if I can find a picture of it to see about the rear bumper. I can't remember what it was. I loved that truck!

What I could find is that the NV3500 wasn't introduced until 93. Mine seems to be a 5LM60.

I also looked upped the RPO codes for the rear and found that I have the 2.73.

That model name sounds familiar too. Whatever it was, I had the same one. It for sure was not a T5 and looked just like what was used in the same-year full size trucks.

Mine had a 3.08 gear. 26-28mpg on the highway was fairly common.

Since it has the 2.73 rear, my 358 wouldn't work well with it, but I can use the 300HP 283 that I have.

I'm hoping the 4.3 runs well with no issues. I bought a new gas tank and fuel sender unit for it.

Those S-10 trucks with the 4.3L are quick little trucks. I ordered one new in 2001. Bare bones options on the inside, with the Sport Appearance package, (the Camaro looking 5 spoke aluminum wheels) 4.3 V6, and the 5 speed. That truck was fun.

Great looking project!

I am going to look for a more sporty type rim. The ones on it are 14's and I have the beauty bands for them, might go up to 15's, but nothing bigger than 15's.

These were the rims I had. Factory 16" rims.

Good work sir.
My first car was a 1982 S-15 Seirra Classic with all the old guy options.
Some days I want another one, but then I remember I have my square and that feeling goes away.
