Hi folks, I picked up this 1985 GMC extended cab 4x4 with 6.2L diesel. I feel it’s a rare truck and it definitely needs to be back on the road. I do not have the time or the resources to do the restoration myself. I am interested in reputable restoration shops as well as financing for such a restoration. I have all the original paperwork, trim, as well as the rims that came with the truck, however I’d like to keep it lifted. Shoot me a message if anyone knows of such a place or has found themselves in the same situation that I am in. Thanks!

Nice, just sold my extended cab in August after nearly 11 years of ownership. Last picture of it as the new owner was about to take it home

Welcome
It’s rare, although if you’re considering it to be valuable, I’d do some research on that, as it was a conversion done by 1 or 2 companies in the 80s. Nothing wrong with it, you just don’t see many and idk if they’re actually valuable.
Regarding a loan for a restoration? At the expense of sounding like I’m preaching, if this seems like a good idea AND you actually find a lender, it will not be cheap. No comment on your financial resources or sense, but generally one spends far more than a vehicle is worth, restoring it, if not doing the work yourself. Add some steep interest charges for a loan and it should seem like a very unattractive option to you.

It would help you to find a body shop that may entertain the work and have them walk you through what needs to be done just from a paint and body standpoint, as that truck needs more than just some bodywork and a paint job.
From 1 pic, door is sagging needs hinges or pins, cab mounts are shot or rusted out. Cab is rotten around the ext cab window. And obviously missing body parts.
I only say this, not to discourage, but to prompt you to gain some knowledge before jumping in with both feet.

Cool truck though!

Welcome to the forum from East Tennessee. This is the first ex.cab squire body that I’ve seen.
