I like mine, but you'd have to buy a whole flatbed to get it [emoji23]

i think he mentioned he couldnt find a quality one for a square esp because most of the cheapo ones dont support the rack passed the two stake holes, so he took matters into his own hands

Actually,it was custom, but for a newer Ram pickup. However,Fit my square like a glove. It’s heavy.Wouldn’t be surprised at all if it handled a rollover

Yes, much better than a lot of aftermarket racks that are more for looks than anything. That one actually looks it is meant for real work, like hauling pipe.

its integrated with the bed rails, which i think are literrally providing the structure of the bed at the moment.
built by my gpa, who was a welder by trade.. he built a LOT of things. impressive. i am gonna clean it up and get some paint on it one of these days.

some old, unobstructed pics

my gpa designed this one for 1) keeping the bed on the truck 2) moving lots of firewood and iron. LOTS.

You would be right on hauling pipe. That rack was made for oil service company.

FWIW, I removed the Protech rack that came on our 2016 Ram.
Stuck it on the square just to see how it fits and it fits well.
Bed rail width is actually closer to perfect fit than on the Ram and it is pretty close to the same angle as the B pillars.

I believe a lot of aftermarket racks would fit a square just fine, physically and aesthetically.
Truck beds don’t differ “that” much in width.

Ended up having this one fall in my lap. My dad helps a local guy on his farm part time, and he gave my dad this one just to get it out of his way. All aluminum, so it pretty light.

The ones that I've looked at fit the width of the bed fine . It's that they are a foot taller then the cab.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's a hammer union?
Typically used in the oilfield, gas, and waterwell industries. Weld on and reusable sometimes.
They come in many different sizes.

I don't know. I've tagged him in several threads and haven't got a response out of him in quite a while. Hopefully all is well.
